MexSoxFan#1
QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Feb 17, 2012 -> 05:46 PM) Howard has a 7.5 foot wingspan. He would jump those guys out of the gym. Come on now. After Howard, who's the next best C, Bynum? Why isn't he killing Shaq style in an era of garbage Cs? Put Howard up against 80s and 90s big men and he ain't all that. Rowand44
Man, there are some insane arguments in this thread. There is more to athleticism then just jumping but Jordan has the highest vertical officially recorded for a NBA player at 48 inches, 4 f***in feet people, id say he'd be athletically superior to todays NBA as well. Oh and Drexler's vetical..44 in, Wade's...36. Point J4L.
Rowand44
QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Feb 17, 2012 -> 04:35 PM) Also keep in mind that there was no 3-second rule in Jordan's day. Bigs could just camp out in the paint all game (especially against teams without a good scoring center) and go for blocks. This is actually a fantastic argument. Knicks might start being a legit team, found a way to come together without their 2 stars, now they getting both back and adding a solid player in JR Smith. I don't think they can beat Bulls or Heat but maybe can become that 3rd team.

Look, 2k5 is on a mission to get to 100K for his post count. Him and Balta can only disagree on so much. Now he's resorting to fake "celebrity" deaths and notions that Michael Jordan would only be decent in today's game (though just a couple weeks ago he dissed the NBA and said college hoops was better) so multiple people would respond to him and therefore he can build that post count up. Quin
Ok, I got some catching up. 1) ss2k5 are you on crack? Jordan would average 40 a game in today's NBA. No hand checking, no Payton/Clyde/Dumars/Cooper/Moncrief to guard him, only one great big (who isn't s*** against the guys Jordan went up against), superstar calls, and he'd get f***ing pissed when someone like LeBron starts dancing and just drop bombs. 2) Hakeem > Dwight athletically. Dwight's got more vertical, but he could only begin to Dream (motherf***ing puns) about having Hakeem's coordination. 3) Wilt would still be good. Dude was Derrick Rose fast, a health freak that ran marathons in his 50s, and had great leaping ability. He wouldn't put up 50 and 25, but he'd be the best center in today's league, even with the 3 second rule. 4) Bill Russell would still be able to play. Probably not a Hall of Famer, but he'd be an all-star once or twice. 5) Cousy is an awkward motherf***er. Dunno how he'd adapt. 6) Wade is about equal to Clyde athletically. Soxbadger
Had the 92 Dream Team chosen Shaq over Laettner its arguable that they had a top 3 all time player at every position. I dont really think NBA players are better today, they may have more toned muscles, but muscles dont make shots.

Right, obviously Lebron is a better athlete by far compared to anyone in the 90's..... but that same statement is true compared to anyone playing today. southsider2k5
Good god. After reading this circle jerk last night, I am glad I went to HS games for last night. MJ was the most dominant player I have ever seen, but time does not freeze and the game changes. If you guys want to keep on slapping each other on the backs over the 90's like they are the only period of NBA basketball, feel free.

Dick Allen
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Feb 17, 2012 -> 03:04 PM) I watched all of those guys growing up. Trust me. Throwing out the MJ crush, it is a different game. I think if you just picked up 1990 MJ and move him into today's game unchanged, he would be a decent, but not great player. This post is pure comedy. Maybe someday it will change, but an in his prime MJ is still the best player of any era. He was as athletic and competitive as anyone in the game today and he was a basketball player. Too many people get caught up in athleticism as the end all. If it was, Tyrus Thomas would be considered far better than Larry Bird or Magic Johnson for that matter.
