2011-2012 NBA Season Thread

I liked Gasol's quote about it:

"You don't really see what happened," Gasol said. "It was quick, a hit-and-run kind of thing, right? The ball went in, I was on my a--, I woke up, I stood up and told the referee I had a f---ing forearm on my face, on my throat, and that's something that needs to be looked at. But it happened too quick. I didn't realize."

Griffin leads with his forearm on every "poster" dunk he does. It started with him putting his nuts in Mozghovs face, and it won't stop because he has the "oh s***" factor.

The only time it will get called is if he does it to another superstar. And even then, it will be 50/50 depending on the ref and situation

Griffin commits a foul on every dunk. I've complained about it all year and them continuing to allow it is a joke. It's really easy to dunk at that size and athleticism when you can also punch the opponent!

Two great games last night. The NBA is alive and well. I can't wait for D-Rose to be back and this team to get to full speed!

Honestly though, if Gasol is jumping into Griffin and whacking him, and Griffin is coming in with a swinging forearm, what should they call?

I'd like them just to not call anything, if they really need to have Griffin making those poster dunks so badly...

I remember watching last night Miami getting into their offense as LeBron was the last guy up the floor. He comes down the floor and runs over the Thunder player defending Chalmers to set a "screen", while the guy was standing still. The defender gets called for a foul and LeBron goes to the line for two. It was terrible.

Up until those flagrant fouls the Thunder were the aggressors, so Miami got the benefit of the refs trying to get the game under control. Lebron was all over Durant defensively and he was only called once for it. It was a good game regardless. Wade and Bosh don't look very good though, Bosh especially. Wonder if he's hurt. Lebron, unfortunately, looked great.

The media should stop telling us that CJ is a starter on many other teams

I haven't been impressed with CJ since he came back from the concussion. I wonder if he has really been healthy, or it just playing to bridge the gap until Rose is back.

I believe he had an ankle thing as well, right? I'll bet there's a whole lot of gap-bridging happenign.

Going back through Google, I see a wrist injury, elbow, and shoulder this year... Plus the concussion.

So yeah, he's probably "Biting the bullet" so that the MVP can stay on the bench.

I didn't say that had anything to do with the media. The media has said absolutely every possible scenario for Rose. I initially posted in here the first game Rose missed that the injury might be way worse than they were making it out to be since he was sitting on a big ass pad on his chair on the bench and he said it was the "worst day of his life".

I've heard that his elbow injury is alot worse than being reported.

Right on cue, here's "Thibs might rest CJ more during April".

Just another day with the Orlando Magic:

Stan Van Gundy Confirms Dwight Howard Asked For Him To Be Fired As Magic Coach After Season

In a stunning admission, Orlando Magic coach Stan Van Gundy has actually confirmed reports that star center Dwight Howard has asked for him to be fired as the team's coach over the summer. Speaking to reporters prior to the Magic's game against the New York Knicks, Van Gundy said he was told of the news by the franchise's management.

Van Gundy when asked if @DwightHoward has asked for him to be fired? "I know he has."

Things later got especially awkward when Howard himself walked by the press scrum. Via Frank Isola of the New York Daily News.

Dwight now denying he asked for Stan to be fired. Asked reporters to give up their source. Hey genius, the source is Stan

I know he is a superstar, but I can't believe he controls whether the coach returns or is fired. Dwight is quickly becoming of the players I hate the most.

Lebron could get coaches fired, I think kobe will get Mike Brown fired this year.

Watson, we're trying to run clOck. Why take 3 with 10 left on shot clock?

They gave him the open 3, and he had at least run some clock. Wasn't the greatest shot ever, but wasn't awful eitehr.
