Hey Grizzlies, here's a song for you.

Stunned. I was watching when the Grizzlies were up 25 or whatever, got distracted and started doing something else, went back to finish the game but changed my mind, as I assumed it was over. Didn't have a clue about what had ultimately occurred until I saw this post. I had Memphis in the conference finals before this debacle.

I just watched the replay of Rondo bumping the official, and his postgame comments when he says it was unintentional and he tripped on someones foot and didnt expect the ref to stop. What a load of s***, lol I dont know how he expects anyone to believe that.

Knowing the way Stern hands out discipline, I expect Rondo to be suspended for the first 3 minutes of game two and have a $200 fine

You could have believed that until he puffed out his chest afterwards.

He puffed out his chest as he was delivering the bump. Amazingly stupid from a player that should know better

Either way, you don't do that as you are falling after being tripped. Your arms go out and look for something to grab to stay up.

It's more depression and sports angst than anything at this point. Rose needs a full knee reconstruction as he tore both ACL and MCL's. The vast upside of this kid has been cut incredibly short, and we just spent an entire season waiting for the first consequential games only to have the most important player on the roster ruin his knee and subsequently lose a year of development and quite possibly that extra step that made him special.

I am not over it.

And if this is what many fans are feeling, I don't even want to fathom what Rose himself if feeling.

Yeah, he's so competitive and so openly wants to be the best and wants to work for it. He said the day he got in the car wreck and realized his groin injury was the "worst day of his life", he could be headed for full-on depression mode and soon.

It'll be made even worse if the Bulls pull off a miracle and get to the Finals without him.

Hopefully this is nothing more than a set back. Even without the burst, Rose played brilliantly at times this year, including on Saturday. If he can get a near triple double with a bum ankle and about 80-85% health, i'll take a little less explosiveness because of this knee injury. And really we still don't know yet. Jamal Crawford and Ron Harper both said they came back just as strong if not stronger. Obviously neither have the athleticism Rose has, but still. By all indications the recovery is what you put into it, and Rose seems to be the type to put 110% into everything basketball related.

I'm trying to be an optimist. Rose at 95% is still an all star. Lets hope he gets back to 100% but no matter what I wish him a speedy recovery. From here on out...Go Bulls. You are one of the most enjoyable teams I've gotten to cheer for in a long time. The epitome of an NBA TEAM. Kick some ass and win this thing for the gipper..errr Drose.

This is the worst for me as a fan in my life. At this point as a Chicago sports fan, I'm resigned to expecting the worst. At this point I have little faith in anything sports. An entire season of Derrick Rose already lost, and another one coming - NFC Championship Game? Jay Cutler injured. NHL season and playoffs? F*ck you Toews and Hossa. Every idiot on the White Sox? Plays like garbage. (2011, at least)

Derrick Rose has been injured all year, but there was that hope. We knew what we were watching on Saturday was two things 1 - Derrick Rose not at 100% 2 - a team with a Derrick Rose at 85% that was going to win the Championship. We needed the threat of Rose out there, and if we couldn't get him healthy, him being out there was going to be enough.

I honestly believed it. Rip was scoring, the bigs were getting to the rim. Everything was coming together.

Then, with 1 minute left, the best player I've enjoyed as a sports fan of my generation (Jordan doesn't count - he belongs to the previous generation), quite possibly had his entire career altered in the first game of consequence of the season.

We watched 66 games, knowing the Bulls were getting the 1 or 2 seed (but really knowing the 1 seed for the past month at least), just to get to these games that matter.

The idiot in me hopes CJ Watson can step up and be 60% of Rose (not an awful comparison to the 85% we were getting), but even he will probably get injured - it's been proven. I have been sports depressed before - most notably with post-Cutler reaction last season as the Bears got to 7-3 and were putting up 40 points per game.

I cannot even compute what happened with Rose over the weekend. It went from the decision in my mind that the Bulls were really going to win it all - that we'd finally get to see this team play, to the realization that it had all just come crashing down.

To think, Derrick Rose's career has likely been altered because the NBA wanted 66 games instead of a much more manageable 55.

I hate it all. I am getting less over it as the days move along.

Here's a positive - if the Heat win there's a huge asterisk on the title. The memory of Lebron winning a title will quickly be followed up by everyone saying "well yeah, but the Bulls were the best team and lost Rose, so that was probably the easiest path to a title ever."

Nope. Not a positive and I don't believe it. A title is a title, and staying healthy is a huge party of that.

Even the shortened season won't really be an asterisk, nobody says the Spurs didn't deserve their title.

Sam Smith makes me feel slightly better about long-term possibilities.

The history of these injuries is players recover well. The AOS Medical Center in Glendale, California studied anterior cruciate ligament reconstruction for NBA players between 1994 and 2005. They used the Player Efficiency Statistic to compare performance before and after the injury. Of the 21 players who returned to play of 27 studied (six were older and retired), 15 percent performed better on the statistical measure, 19 percent were within one percentage point and 44 percent decreased somewhat but not substantially.

In addition, a look at recent such surgeries on top players shows most returning to a high level of play, like Chris Paul, Jamal Crawford, David West, Kyle Lowry and Al Jefferson. Tim Hardaway had the surgery in 1993-94, and while he wasn’t as explosive afterward, he was first team all-NBA three years later and twice an All-Star afterward. Dunk champion Blake Griffin didn’t have the ACL, but had a stress fracture and broken knee cap before winning the dunk contest. And there was the NFL’s Willis McGahee, who tore his ACL, MCL, PCL 10 years ago, and I think USPS, UPS and DOT. He had about 1,200 yards rushing last season.

Though most players, like Paul, tend to be at a reduced level the first season back and then regain a high level in their second season.
