The Braves were never going to trade Teheran for Q... They were never interested in him.

So says you, genius. Maybe if KW got his head out of his ass and exploited the "trade override" function in the options menu this organization wouldn't be in a state of disrepair right now.

Or maybe he sold his sole to the devil or made a wish on an old fairground wish machine or just tried really, really, really hard after making a promise to a relative on their deathbed.

The bottom line is for every pitcher you can say Cooper helped throw strikes, there are probably 25 or more you could say he couldn't help. Counting on Castro suddenly throwing strikes is something no one should really do.

After looking up their numbers on Baseball-Reference, I am not as disappointed in this trade.

Both guys seemed to put up really solid peripherals in A and/or AA last year. Yes, they both fell on their faces in AAA, but it was also a small sample compared to the rest of their season. Hernandez only had like 18 innings at AAA, and Castro had....30 something? At ages 24 and 23 and both at AAA, I'm not too worried.

I heard he actually had an agreement done for Teheran and Minor but that guy who broke into his house called up Frank Wren and pissed him off.

You're ridiculous.

I'd say he helped Humber...and to a point EJax. I'm sure Santos to a point too. Ya know what I'd always find interesting at ST is going down to the bullpen with the pitchers before the game and how Coop would emphasis more location than anything. You really can't ignore Coop's influence on some of these guys. Not saying he's the Guru of Pitching Coaches...but I'm glad he's here.

Philip Humber's BB/9 last year was 2.3. His career number in the minors was 2.7, and it was worse in the bigs.

I'm not playing your silly little Cooper/Walker game. And I'm pretty sure you don't "count" on projects (that's what Castro's looking like right now) to do much of anything, there's typically a lot more hoping and praying going on than there is expectations.

This has nothing to do with Walker, it has something to do with guys like Aardsma and Sisco and MacDougal..................despite the Soxtalk consensus, Coop will fix him really doesn't apply to the vast majority. There usually is a bigger reason why guys suck more than a slight adjustment.

I think he'll go for sure. You might actually get something for him. I still find him highly overrated on this site. Very inconsistent.

And that, IMO, is why he's unlikely to go. He's consistent in that he'll give you a good WAR year after year, but wwhen you watch/scout him, you'll get too many games where his curve isn't there and he gets shelled. Maybe he'll pull things together with that extra pitch finally working better one of these years, but I dunno.

One thing worth noting...The Sox now have control over everyone on their roster through at least the end of 2013 other than the enormous option on Jake Peavy.

MacDougal actually had his best success with the Sox in 2006.

Sisco had only a few months here before he blew out his elbow.

It's going to be so nice to get Peavy's contract off the books.

As I said, the rebuilders should be thrilled with this trade. Just thrilled. Of course in a couple of years they will be pissed off.

One thing is for sure, KW just f***ed Quentin out of at least a few million. Going to SD isn't going to help him cash in on a contract.

They will have no problem moving the money, especially if they don't care if they don't dent the other team's top 15 prospect list.

I hope they can. If they move him and Floyd the payroll would be at ~92M and they could make a serious run at Cespedes. Sign him and put Viciedo on the block.

IMO, Viciedo is more valuable to the Sox than he is on the trade market.
