caulfield12
QUOTE (bigruss22 @ Jan 2, 2012 -> 08:17 PM) If you're into spoofs/parody of the murder/slasher genre, check out Tucker and Dale vs. Evil. My roommate and I watched it as a joke on Netflix then were cracking up throughout the movie. It's like the direct opposite of that "human croc" movie or the "shark attack" flick....from 2011. The main actor was a cross between Jack Black, John Daly and Seth Rogen. The blonde was a hottie too, the one who falls into the water and is "rescued/kidnapped." Had seen the other lead actor in a number of low-budget roles, the name doesn't come to mind but he looked familiar. Better than 90% of the spoof movies made in the last 2-3 years, that's for sure. The blonde was extremely hot. The main actor Ive heard is from Sons of Tucson, but not sure on that. The other one is Alan Tudyk, who was in Firefly, Death at a Funeral, Dollhouse, Dodgeball, A Knight's Tale and many other films and shows. I would compare it to "Snakes on a Plane" type movie, because you were always wondering how the next person was going to kill themselves, but more comedy in this one. It had a little of Final Destination to it as well. CREATURE is the movie I was thinking of, maybe the worst movie of the entire year according to many critics. The beginnings of the two movies are almost identical...
Milkman delivers
QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Jan 3, 2012 -> 05:38 AM) I like Bowie as Tesla. He brought the same weird guy vibe that he brought to "Labyrinth" No joke, I was going to post "David Bowie's best work since Labyrinth", but only half sarcastically because I loved both. Im really looking forward to this summer Total Recall? I didn't realize they were doing that again. Or is it a sequel? QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Jan 2, 2012 -> 11:07 PM) Finally got around to watching The Prestige. Not bad. I thought it was pretty good, but I thought the Norton magician flick The Illusionist, out around the same time, was better.

hogan873
Took the family to see Adventures of TinTin on Christmas Eve. As it went on, I was thinking my kids (10, 9, and 6) might not get it. But they loved it and talk about it all the time. I enjoyed it, too. I talked them out of Alvin and the Chipmunks.

That guy is just another Keanu Reeves to me, he isn't an actor, he has one character that happens to sometimes fit the movie, and is almost always irritating. I guess my point would be that Keanu Reeves has never had a performance anywhere near as good as Farrell's in "In Bruges". In order to pull off that role he has to have some acting chops. And yeah: "In Bruges", "Ed Wood" and "Sweet Smell of Success" are my 3 favorite all time movies in no particular order, that's how good that movie was, IMO. And both Farrell and Reeves do have a couple films I've seen where they fit nicely, but I can't take much of either one of them.

After talking to some guys from Ireland, it sounds like Farrell does a much better acting job when he can speak in his native Irish accent. Though I thought he was decent in his role in Horrible Bosses.

Iwritecode
We've been watching a lot of movies the past few weeks and have noticed a theme that we did completely by accident. First we watched Dolphin Tale, about the dolphin that had it's tale amputated and had to get an artificial one added. Then we watched Soul Surfer, about the girl that got her arm bitten off by a shark while surfing. Finally we watched 127 hours, about the hiker that got his hand stuck under a rock when he fell and had to cut it off to free himself. Not sure how we ended up watching three movies that envolved some sort of dismemberment and were based on real-life events. The first two movies were actually pretty good. 127 hours wasn't that great IMO. I knew it was mostly going to be the main character alone after he got stuck but they didn't do a very good job explaining what was happening to him. I guess he was having flashbacks and premonitions but it was pretty confusing. The first two also had a bunch of extra stuff on the DVD about the real-life people. The last one had no extra stuff at all. We also watched Zookeeper. Pretty horrible considering the actors involved.
3E8
Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy suffered from a poor screenplay. The way Tomas Alfredson (Let The Right One In) beautifully shot the film kept it from being a disappointment. There is a really odd juxtaposition between plot development and soundtrack during the final scene that I enjoyed.
