ChiliIrishHammock24
QUOTE (CryptviLL @ Mar 22, 2012 -> 11:40 AM) I'm doing well so far in my 4th year. Over .320 average, 15 home runs and about 50 RBIS before the all star break. Although I am using sliders to my advantage. I've really learned to be patient at the plate, it is extremely important. Are you in the majors?
iWiN4PreP
Yes. I'm the Oakland Athletics 2015 starting second basemen. I completely ignore the Walk goals, and while it hurts me from time to time, usually the manager just waves the goals off. In terms of hitting, I have guess pitch turned off, as when you use it, and don't guess right you get penalized harshly. My biggest problem is striking out when I'm in a slump. Also, this is my fourth year, so my guy has had plenty of seasoning. Roughly an 80 in every category (Pow vs. L / R, Con vs. L/R, Speed, Vision). Now that I'm starting and I even have my speed up, I'm starting to swipe more bags (I don't do the baserunning or fielding, I let the computer do that, I just hit.) which is giving me even more points. It's an exponential growth. By Year 2017 I expect to just dominate the mlb with the way I am going up in stats. Edit: I have the most home runs in the league at 28 just after the all-star break. The MVP race is down to Me, Prince, and Miggy. My .avg is slipping to .308 tho. Edited March 22, 2012 by CryptviLL
witesoxfan
QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ Mar 21, 2012 -> 07:35 PM) These "Draw X amount of walks" goals are pissing me off. Even when I TRY to walk, I can't. I either strike out looking because they pound the zone every at-bat, or I have to foul off 4-5 pitches in an AB just to draw another ball. It's insane. Last time my goal was to draw 3 walks, I think I had 3 weeks to do it, and 1 walk is all I could muster. And during that time, my average plummitted because I was letting wheelhouse pitches go so I could hope for a ball on the next pitch, and then I would strike out, or make weak contact trying to be late on the ball so it goes foul. Frustrating. So i ended up failing the goal, so the next set of goals they get, they ask me to get FOUR walks this time. Son of a b****. First of all, drawing 1 walk in 3 weeks of playing time is terrible, I don't care if you're playing The Show or 2k. Watch the pitch from the pitchers hand, like any professional baseball player does. The split second after it releases from his hand, you know where the ball is generally going, and you have time to make a judgment. In my RTFTS (road to f*** the show), I started the year repeating AA after being invited to ST. I was far too advanced, and after 20 games of hitting .520 (yes, .520), I was promoted to AAA. After hitting about .350 in AAA and finding my power stroke (8 homers in about 35 games), I was recalled to the Majors. Just a bit harder. But, that .520 was also aided by roughly 10 walks, and the .350 was with about 10 walks as well. I could have walked more, but I naturally prefer to murder the ball. If you suck, you suck, and the pitchers will throw you s*** down the middle. Thats true of either video game. So, uhh, get your defense swing ready. QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ Mar 21, 2012 -> 11:57 PM) Yeah, I'm not so sure the pitchers in the game think like that. But the commentators do mention after a couple balls are thrown to me that I am terrible and they should just be lobbing them down the middle so I can get myself out. They do. iWiN4PreP
So I have 51 Home runs, 135 RBIs, a few steals, a .367 batting average, yet im considered an MLB bench player, coming off the bench for not doing the required goals (walking). I think my manager threatened to send me to the minors, and now all I do is come off the bench. Worst of all, apparently I don't have the necessary number of at bats per appearances to be considered MVP of the league. Well...
iWiN4PreP
So because they have been messing around with me so much, the game glitched. At the end of the year they sent me to the minors, even tho I had 50+ home runs. In the ALCS they brought me back up, and now the system has me down as having my regular season stats cloned as my playoffs stats. So my guy now has '54 home runs, a 371. average, and 140 Rbis' this playoff year. Needless to say, I expect to be breaking all kinds of post season records. ChiliIrishHammock24
QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Mar 23, 2012 -> 03:04 AM) First of all, drawing 1 walk in 3 weeks of playing time is terrible, I don't care if you're playing The Show or 2k. Watch the pitch from the pitchers hand, like any professional baseball player does. The split second after it releases from his hand, you know where the ball is generally going, and you have time to make a judgment. Yeah, I know how to read the pitch out of his hand. But as I said, my problem isn't being able to lay off balls, my problem is the pitchers don't throw me balls in the first place. Whenever I have the goal of walking, I take every pitch until I get to 2 strikes. And usually that means it starts 0-2 or 1-2. Then my only hope is to foul off some pitches because they continue to pound the zone. I can count on 1 hand the amount of 3-ball counts I have gotten in to. Yeah, I could try and foul off every pitch that is thrown right down the middle, but it's too tempting to not want to just smash that pitch up the middle for a hit. And I figure, if I raise my average enough, and blast enough home-runs, the pitchers will probably be more selective with me anyone, and THEN I will start to draw the walks. I'm up to about .240 now with 6 HR, maybe 40 RBI, and 13 SB at the beginning of June.

Quin
QUOTE (chw42 @ Mar 23, 2012 -> 09:15 AM) UNSUSTAINABLE. You're right. My rookie year I had hit .380 (from late July onward, was a call-up) with 7 HR. I got benched for hitting a walk off HR and not taking a pitch. LaRussa made me play 3B, where I sucked defensively and my goals were .997 fielding percentage AND take walks.
ChiliIrishHammock24
What the hell. I just had a 14 pitch at bat, and 11 of them were in the strike zone. I was purposefully early on all of them to pull them foul. Ended up accidentally hitting the 14th pitch fair, so I never got the walk. See what I'm saying? I can't get a walk to save my life, even if I try to hit every strike foul.
ChiliIrishHammock24
Got my AVG up to about .238, and then hit a huge slump. Dropped down to .220, and then after going 3/4 with 3 SB, I got it up to .227. Then the Cubs traded me to the Mets for Mark Reynolds. Now I'm on the Binghamton Mets in AA. YOU GET HITS THEN THEY ARE SCARED AND THROW BALLS. I know, I understand this and it's something I have already mentioned, I am just showing WiteSoxfan that it's not that easy to draw walks when all they do is throw you strikes. He made it seem like I don't know how to lay off of balls, or that I can't figure out how to draw a walk. I was trying to prove my point that it doesn't matter if I foul 8 pitches off, because they continue to pound the zone.

Quin
Mass Effect 3 Spoilers Mordin's death was so sad. Seriously, damn. But was there some symbolism in a giant phallic symbol releasing white stuff all over Tuchanka? Perhaps symbolizing Mordin being father to all future Krogan. f***. I'll miss that singing genius. iWiN4PreP
Yes. MLB 12's trophies are 100x easier than years past. I'm sure you could do it if you dedicated yourself to the trophies. It is only a grind - to win 30 games with each team and what not.

I'm sure you could do it if you dedicated yourself to the trophies. It is only a grind - to win 30 games with each team and what not. But I figured there would be trophies like "win the world series" "throw a perfect game" "hit 4 HR in a game" and stuff like that. Is that not correct?
iWiN4PreP
No world series one. There was the perfect game one, also win as every MLB team. A ton of random activities, like have the ball hit off a base, and plow the catcher. Hit 10 home runs in a row in Home Run Derby, and my hardest one was - hit a home run off of a 100mph fastball. southsider2k5
So what happens if your box breaks and you get a new one? You lose all of your games? http://www.slashgear.com/playstation-orbis...games-29220577/ Console game giants Microsoft and Sony may be ushering in a new era of media control with their Xbox 720 and PlayStation Orbis systems as both have been tipped this month to be placing unheard-of controls on so-called “used” games. These tips would have the next-generation console gaming systems both cutting down on game rental and sales services like GameStop and would essentially put online re-sales of games at a standstill. How this will affect sales of the consoles themselves is yet to be seen. Both Microsoft and Sony appear to be considering having control over used game hardware for the future in several ways. If you’ve got a PlayStation Orbis, for example, and you pick up any old PlayStation game that’d been sold to someone other than yourself and played on a console that wasn’t the one you’re using now, restrictions will come into play. In this case you’ll have a “restricted” amount of gameplay available to you with the “full” experience available for an additional price through the PlayStation Network. For the Xbox 720, tips from several sources have been noting the complete cut-off of used gameplay altogether. Each game will be tied to the first console it is played on, then that’s it! Downloadable games and one-user-disks will be the only legal means for gamers to play games on their Xbox 720 consoles if rumors prove to be true. Is this agreeable to you, the average or hardcore gamer?
