I don't know if anyone here plays WoW, personally I don't, but I was wondering if anyone could explain the Kung fu panda motif they have going on I am seeing in the commercials

Never played WoW, but did play the rts games. The panda lore definitely predates Kung Fu Panda.

I was reading an article in Kotaku where a rep from Sony admitted that they were surprised at the lack of 3rd party interest in developing games for the Vita. They just aren't into it for whatever reason

The Vita hasn't been hacked either, so no piracy to blame this time around (PSP's demise was blamed on piracy for the most part).

If the Vita doesn't get a can't miss game soon, I'm gonna sell mine. I had such high expectations for it. But so far, the games that are out seem extremely limited (except Uncharted Golden Abyss and that even seemed a bit boring...) and laggy (try playing MLB The Show on the Vita and then on the PS3, there's a huge difference in smoothness).

Did I also mention how lame and ugly the UI on their firmware is? Yuck.

Vita is going to die

It's starting to look that way. It's a shame too, because the processing power on it along with the fact that it has buttons can support games that can blow anything on iOS or Android away.

So I played 2K13 today. 2 games. Don't play it on simulation, they totally screwed up those sliders this year. Your guys get tired after 4 minutes (ridiculous).

It's hard to improve over 2K12, but they did. The game is just so crisp. Rondo will do his fancy passes (no extra button pressing needed), Rose drives hard to the lane and does some crazy ass moves to finish, and your defenders close out on shooters without you having to jump (they put their hands up when you get close to the shooter).

The animations are improved. Sure, there are those moments where you're just like "WTF?", but this is a good improvement over 2K12.

I'm not a huge fan of the new right stick control scheme. I really enjoyed shooting with just the stick alone. I guess I'll have to get used to this. I used the X button to shoot in my first few games.

yeah, took me a couple games to get used to the new controls but man its so fun. i did the training camp mode to learn all the nuances and its really incredible all the moves you actually have at your disposal once youre familiar with how everything works. Oh and I think its cute that theres a flop button.

I dunno, I play The Show on my Vita more than I play anything on my xbox for the most part. I liked Golden Abyss too but towards the end there is a fight and the screen wasnt reading my finger swipes correctly and it was impossible to beat. I will probably get Madden on it too for Superstar mode.

I'm heavily on the fence for buying an NBA game three years running. I mean, I still enjoy firing up 2k12 because of the insane plethora of legends. I doubt they're in this one because no Legend Showcase.

I dont really mess with the legends, but at a quick glance i saw a lot of classic teams, not sure if there is as many or more than last years 2k. But the dream team is on there and so is the new USA mens olympic team, cant wait to poop on scottie pippen with prime lebron.

Madden 13 Vita is Madden 12 with new announcers. Plus, the freaking thing lags when you scroll through plays. Really frustrating to deal with something so simple, yet so slow.

The 3DS isn't doing well either. Perhaps the era of dedicated gaming handhelds is dead with smartphones and tablets taking over.

Yeah, but I made all time rosters for all 30 teams with the legends from the showcase, so I don't know if I can replicate that again.

3DS is doing well worldwide in terms of sales.

3ds is kind of stuck in an odd spot. For one, they have 2 different sizes and prices that came out one after another basically, and two the WiiU basically comes with a 3ds in that remote. I know it doesn't work outside the range of the machine, but it still is a little competition within its own company.

Plus, regular DS still work fine and people use them still. Nintendo flooded the market with their own stuff and it is hurting their sales. They are starting to get people to buy 3ds with their newer smb games though

Was there even a dedicated Madden 12 for Vita? I never saw one. There probably was a PSP version that could be used on Vita but as far as I know there was no official Vita release like there is for 13.

The NFL season was over when the Vita came out.

I'm having a hard time finding my shot online. I missed around 4-5 open 3-pointers w/ Ray Allen this morning. But I'm in love with the game.

The new FIFA game is great

What's different from '12?

Fifa '12 was the first fifa I've bought in ages and I'm still playing it almost daily. Still hooked on my career.

In terms of gameplay alone the biggest change is the first touches. The difference between good and bad teams has never been larger and playing with mediocre players has never been less enjoyable IMO. The game gets sloppy and it's a bit harder to string passes together. It makes you think and play a bit differently though. They also nerfed the finesse shot, which was a bit too easy to score with in the past couple years. The stupid impact engine from 12 has been refined so you don't get the rag doll collisions and other than a few awful reffing decisions that come up every so often the impact engine doesn't screw up much at all.

In terms of features/game modes this is the best FIFA ever by a long shot. They split the virtual pro career into offline and online so you can't boost on your own. The manager career mode is similar with a few minor upticks. The skill challenges are cool and the free kick one has really improved how good I am at those.

I've noticed tons of bugs though. I've been leaking random accomplishments with my online pro, which soured me on that for a few days. I can't imagine an RPG like Borderlands or something having players losing leveling progress without a massive uproar from the community. I was bummed when that happened and despite other people complaining about the same issues EA hasn't done anything yet.

13 is worth buying, but if you're still having fun with 12 I'd say maybe hold off another month or so to see if you can start with a patched version.

Ive played the EA sports soccer franchise religiously since '98 but switched to the competition this year because of the need for something new and the fact that I'm starting to hate EA Sports. Fifa was always fun in an arcadey way, last years version seemed like the ball glued to the players feet as soon as they received the pass no matter who the player was, from Ronaldo to Gary Twigg. Also the dribbling at full sprint, the player always had full control of the ball no matter who it was.

In Pro evolution, after a period of getting used to it all, i find it way more impressive in terms of strictly gameplay, fifa wins in presentation and graphics hands down. When a player receives a pass, you press the right trigger or R2 to dead the ball proper, and even then its not a guarantee that the player will do so and might let the ball go behind him or kick the ball towards the opposition. The very first game i played i passed a perfect through ball to Torres from Hazard and on the breakaway Torres was going full sprint and on his 3rd touch, he mistouched and the ball went behind him. Frustrating yes, but damn it looked so real. Also, teams in PES play like their real life counterparts, teams like Barca do the tiki taka and torch you on offense, and when you play stoke city you deal with what seems like a million midfielders on defense and the use of long throw-ins to try to beat you. I love PES and next year the game is getting the Fox Engine so hold on to your tits for that one.

All of this being said, I have fond memories of the ea sports soccer franchise and dont deny that its a good game, I just thought id give an opinion to those who havent tried the game because I honestly would have never even thought to buy PES either but i bought it on a whim and now i love it.
