If the Red Sox are in panic mode, how about a deal like this:

White Sox send Rios, Floyd, and Escobar

White Sox get Matsuzaka, Jenks, and 3-4 lower level prospects

Why for the Red Sox - Floyd is an immediate upgrade to everything they have, Escobar can fill in at SS, and Rios can play RF for them, doesnt look like they have much at that position for now. Dice-K and Jenks both are injury prone and probably won't contribute this season anyways - 16 million dollars on nothing right there.

Why for the White Sox - Get rid of Rios and his contract. Jenks and Dice-K both expire after this season - 2 bums that can't stay healthy is a price I would pay to get rid of Rios. Get more prospects.

So who says no?

Floyd is proven in the AL. Oswalt is not. Floyd would cost more in terms of added prospects.

Yep. He's younger, less of an injury risk, and going to give you workhorse innings.

I hope someone trades for him with a decent prospect package.

Boston has nothing that would make me willing to take on that.

Huh? You wouldn't take on $16 million of contracts that expire after this season to dump Rios?

Boston is the team that would be way averse to such a deal.

Basically, we'd just be saving $20 million total on Rios's deal and giving up Floyd to do so. No thanks.

Plus 3 or 4 prospects he said.

Boston wouldn't even consider it. It's asinine.

Hey dude, yeah its an old username of mine. Last night I was having wine and some went down the wrong pipe and I ended up spraying wine all over our new IKEA table.

OT I know sry guys.

Getting back to the Sox, their starting SS in 2012 will NOT I repeat NOT be Eduardo Escobar or Ozzie Martinez.

Because Bost has Gonzalez at first and Ortiz at DH.

If you trade Alexei, what's the point in keeping Konerko on the roster?

There's no way they compete in 2012 or 2013 with Escobar, Martinez or Lillibridge at SS.

Maybe Marty believes we can compete with Nick Punto or Michael Aviles as our starting SS...

Konerko is a fan favorite, Ramirez is not.

Alexei is the type of player you can build around, Konerko is not.

Alexei plays high-caliber defense at a skill position, Konerko does not.

Alexei has NO immediate organizational depth behind him, Konerko does.
