Marty34
I think the Red Sox could afford Ramirez and Floyd or Oswalt, but I don't think they have enough prospects to make it worth the Sox while. Ramirez to Boston, Floyd to Toronto would be intriguing.
prochisox
If the Red Sox are in panic mode, how about a deal like this: White Sox send Rios, Floyd, and Escobar White Sox get Matsuzaka, Jenks, and 3-4 lower level prospects Why for the Red Sox - Floyd is an immediate upgrade to everything they have, Escobar can fill in at SS, and Rios can play RF for them, doesnt look like they have much at that position for now. Dice-K and Jenks both are injury prone and probably won't contribute this season anyways - 16 million dollars on nothing right there. Why for the White Sox - Get rid of Rios and his contract. Jenks and Dice-K both expire after this season - 2 bums that can't stay healthy is a price I would pay to get rid of Rios. Get more prospects. So who says no? Edited January 22, 2012 by GO CHI SOX! macsandz
Floyd is proven in the AL. Oswalt is not. Floyd would cost more in terms of added prospects.

You wouldn't take on $16 million of contracts that expire after this season to dump Rios? Boston is the team that would be way averse to such a deal. Basically, we'd just be saving $20 million total on Rios's deal and giving up Floyd to do so. No thanks.
