Not really, hes more concerned about things other than football.. that's what got him cut.. Bears fans shouldn't think they just got some stud at no cost here, there's a reason he was cut and not claimed by anyone till Chicago..

You do realize once he was cut he became a f/a, that might be a reason nobody claimed him :lolhitting

Wow if true... (and someone look out for Heads and fantasy football people for suicide watch)

http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2011/...neck-procedure/

Here’s one that we considered holding until we could get confirmation. But the emails are flowing in like chocolates on a conveyor belt, and the only way to turn the machine off is to post an item on what could be a stunning development in the saga of Colts quarterback Peyton Manning.

Radio host John Michael Vincent of ESPN 1070 in Indianapolis says via Twitter, citing multiple unnamed sources, that Manning needs another procedure on his neck, and that Manning is out indefinitely.

The Colts F.O. have responded they don't know anything "as of yet". Favre's game streak is probably good forever now as well (which Peyton wanted to break along with other records of his).

Once he passed through waivers his contract was gone and could be renegotiated.

FWIW, Meriweather is now the Bears' highest paid safety.

Only players with less than 4 years service time go through waivers prior to the trade deadline. After the trade deadline everyone (released) goes through waivers.

ESPN's Chris Mortensen confirms that Peyton Manning underwent cervical fusion surgery on his neck Thursday morning.

Manning's recovery timetable is 2-3 months at minimum. Per Mort, there's no word yet on the possibility of injured reserve. We imagine the Colts will hold off on that decision as long as possible, though the season is circling the drain. Manning won't play before Halloween and possibly not until Thanksgiving. Kerry Collins is still just a low-end QB2 in what will likely be a more run-oriented offense than it's been under Manning. Reggie Wayne, Dallas Clark, Austin Collie, and Pierre Garcon all take severe blows.

He's not going to play this year.

If you are a life long Colts fan this really sucks. He isn't going to last forever. The most difficult thing for any team to do these days is draft a QB. I believe the talent coming out of college has really regressed in the 10 years. Angelo was smart in giving up those picks for Cutler. They most likely would have been wasted on QB busts.

The Colts have been fortunate to have 3 franchise QBs in their history with Unitas, Jones and Manning. They could use an Earl Morrall right now.

I hope they don't plan on playing him when he returns. They might as well go for a better pick in the draft.

Now I wish baseball season would go another month. I'm starting to get turned off by the NFL with their over hype.

Give some props to MLB for allowing fans to watch games on the web for a decent fee instead of forcing people into an over priced TV package.

There's no point for me to watch the NFL, so bring on the NHL.

Only in stats. Other than that they won't have to worry about much contact which is good for Collie.

While the rest of us morons will be putting away our Sox gear. Mods should show better taste instead of posting something like this.

Yeah, I didn't really get that point. Peyton being out is bad for football. Colts games have now become unwatchable.

The cool thing to do in NWI has been to jump off of the Bears bandwagon and on to the Colts. 10 years ago you couldn't find a Colts fan in Indianapolis, let alone in the Chicago market.

The crappy thing is that it only takes on bad year to end up with a player like that. It sure worked for the Spurs years ago.

They could have also ended up with Ryan Leaf and Rickey Williams. A lot of top NFL picks have flopped or haven't lived up to their status especially QBs this century. Drafting offense that high is more of a crap shoot.

Plus I never understood all of these coaches having their 1st pick QB hold a clipboard the first season. Some of the great ones never did that.

That's as bad as trying to understand why IL has so many ND fans.

Colts games were getting unwatchable the last year or two anyway. I was getting sick of Peyton, turning into Favre #2, no thanks.

Also ND football has a long tradition. There is really no other college school like that in the Chicagoland area.

And the Colts have none of that. They just have a lot of wins over the last 10 years, so people jumped on to the bandwagon.
