Kyyle23
QUOTE (HeGone33 @ Nov 16, 2011 -> 03:45 PM) Not sure how being down 14 going into the 4th is kicking anyones ass, but okay....... We could go back and forth all day long, bottom line is it's going to be 49ers vs. Packers the the NFC Championship......so enjoy the silly fights with the Lions. lostfan
QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Nov 16, 2011 -> 09:37 AM) Tell me what Lovie is even decent at in games. t.o. usage - terrible challenges - terrible clock management - atrocious adjustments - terrible game planning - average I don't think this is fair at all TO usage - terrible since Martz has been here, but Lovie is only partially responsible for that. challenges - terrible. very very terrible. clock management - average. He's not Andy Reid out there totally oblivious to the clock and he does a good job of knowing when to throttle down the offense to preserve a safe lead. adjustments - average. sometimes he doesn't when he should, sometimes he makes the wrong adjustment, sometimes he gets it right. All coaches have games where their plan doesn't work. He's learned this over the years. Game planning - above average. From opponent to opponent the defense doesn't need to be changed too much. Players are almost always ready to play come game day and in the last couple of years there's a sense of urgency that wasn't there before when he benches players who aren't performing. When the offense goes awry, that's usually Martz and not Lovie. Lovie is not the greatest coach around but he's not terrible either. He's no worse than average, and fans of other teams would probably say he's above average.
lostfan
QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Nov 16, 2011 -> 12:43 PM) How would it help the Bears if I got pissed at the Packers? I dont like that meathead mentality. I respect Rodgers a lot, the guy is playing at an uber-elite level. The entire offense is in a crazy rhythm, it is hard to deny that. I want the Packers to lose, but getting pissed at them isnt going to make the Bears any better and it wont make the Packers any worse. And the Bears know that they have a date with the Packers at the end of the season, they know it is important even though it probably wont be for first In regards to the Lions, they play dirty and talk a bunch of s***. They got their shots in a month ago and all the sudden want to act like b****es when it comes back their way. Too f***ing bad, time to grow up and act like a professional team and stop trying to act like schoolyard bullies. They didnt take any candy, they gave some bulletin board material, and here the bears are 5 weeks later, tied with them in second place. The scoreboard is the longest middle finger. bmags
I actually like Lovie's adjustments since last year. The last 2 years I felt confident that we would not lose the second half, and that's bared itself out the majority of games.
lostfan
Also when Lovie was a full-time defensive coordinator, he pretty much created a defense out of thin air. The Rams had the worst defense in the league in 2000. He isn't a head coach for no reason. Edited November 17, 2011 by lostfan
MexSoxFan#1
I like Lovie, he has faults like every NFL coach but he's been pretty successful so far. I think it's pretty lame to not give any credit whatsoever and call him lucky, let's be honest, he hasn't really had an offensive powerhouse in any of his teams, he's done alot with less. HeGone33
QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Nov 16, 2011 -> 04:11 PM) I hope not, because that sounds like an awful game. I think NO/NYG/CHI would have a fighting chance in Lambeau, but I'm not sure about the 49ers. Why does that sound like an aweful game? You take the best defense in the NFL against the best offense. You throw in the fact that the 49ers offensive scheme is to pound the ball with Gore, add the fact the weather up in Green Bay could slow down the Packer offense and all of a sudden you have a great game. I've watched every Bear, Packer, and 49er game this year and without and it's funny when highlight watchers immediately discount the 49ers. I guess it all comes down to what you personally consider makes a great football game.

Rodgers didn't get his ass kicked, plain and simple. I would say Cutler got his ass kicked.
GoSox05
I think the 49ers have a good defense, but I don't think its the kind of defense that shuts a team down. The 49ers best games as a defense this year came against Browns, Seahawks, Bengals, Bucs and Redskins. Not really teams you would consider good on offense. I don't think it shuts a team down either, but you add elements such as cold and snow, along with the fact their defense is as solid as it is, and it can be pretty effective. The games you mention statistacally were the best, I was most impressed with what they did vs. the Giants offense, especially in the 4th quarter on Sunday. Check out the injury reports for other teams after having playing agains that defense too.

Most people just assume they are 8-1 because of their division and don't realize they have played only 1 division game to date. Going 4-0 when traveling to the east coast is pretty darn good, no matter who the teams they play. And winning in Philly isn't often easy. Winning against NY was another big game. How about going to DET and winning? Both the Bears and the 49ers have each played 4 teams with winning records.

Couple years ago in the playoffs, Seahawks came into Green bay and it was 20 degrees and snowing. The Packers scored 42 on them. I'm not trying to knock the 49ers, I just don't think they are a great football team. They do have Justin Smith, who is probably the most underrated player in the NFL. I would love to have that guy on the Packers.

I dont assume anything, I know their schedule and who they've played, they also have the 3rd easiest schedule in the NFL. They are an improving team but they also have alot of warts that havent really had the chance to become exposed yet. I am excited to see them play Balt and Pitt, but the rest should be fairly easy. bmags
Niners strength is their run defense, but the packers don't try to run. This worked great against the lions b/c when they know they can't run they love to pass a billion times but they can't convert 3rd. I like the niners against the packers at home, but on the road it will be tough. TBH, I think the cowboys or giants have a shot against the pack b/c of their dline. But I just don't see anyone really taking them down. The problem with the bears matchup with them this year as opposed to last is jermichael finley will just torch us (already has). But obviously, niners, giants, cowboys, and bears have the best shot because they can play their D with just rushing 4.
RockRaines
The Bears will be hurt by Williams being out for the season from here forward. The O-line is basically what determines how far the Bears can go.

I'm saying if you give this franchise another average coach they wouldn't be any worse off. By your guys' logic Tebow should be considered a good QB. He makes bad to terrible QB decisions, and he can't really throw the ball, but hey he prays a lot and gets his guys motivated to play for him and just wins!
