Our team rating for pass blocking is -22.2, which is horrible. However, a huge portion of that negative rating is wrapped up in our right tackle, which is just crazy. You may have noticed that our blocking became less of a factor after Carimi's benching, and these stats may explain why.

While things don't translate exactly from position to position (they said they are really working on this but it favors RBs a bit), Marshall led our team and was one of the highest in the league with an overall 21.3 rating.

Honestly, no I didn't notice them significantly improving after Carimi was benched.

That's why Lovie just had to go, the OL troubles ultimately fall on him as the HC, too many years of awfulness from that part of the game...a great offensive line make a Mark Rypien a superbowl champ and an awful OL line make any QB not named Aaron Rodgers look bad.

That's why great QBs like Brady, Manning, Brees ect always seem to have a great O line in front of them, I'd love to see those guys try to operate with our O line...

The counterpoint of course is that those guys also make their lines better. Getting the ball out quick, not letting the pressure get to them, moving the ball around and not holding it too long so that the defense can't just go after the QB.

Looking at his wiki page he looks like a great offensive mind. Wonder why he's never had a HC gig.

According to Trestman's website, "Marc has been one of the most trusted and respected QB coaches in the game. Which is why every off-season, the top NFL draft prospects call on Marc to work them out in preparation for the their Pro Day and the NFL Combine".

Some of the QBs who have been trained by Trestman include: Brandon Weeden (1st round pick by the Cleveland Browns), Brock Osweiler (2nd round pick by the Denver Broncos), Tim Tebow (1st round pick by the Denver Broncos), Jimmy Clausen (2nd round pick by the Carolina Panthers), Jay Cutler (1st round pick by the Denver Broncos) and Jason Campbell (1st round pick by the Washington Redskins).[1]

So he's also got a connection to Jay.

He was also the OC under Gruden when Gannon was the MVP.

and he's got a book called "PERSEVERANCE: Life Lessons on Leadership and Teamwork" He could turn out to be a good hire.

The QBs that Trestman has trained is not an inspiring list.

It's not but the fact that they go to this guy to help their draft stock is a plus.

I want him. Grab a TE and turn this offense into the 95 9ers. (He was the OC)

Cutler as Young Lite

Marshall as Rice (122 Rec 1800 yards 15 TDs)

Forte as Loville (87 Receptions as an RB, Forte is a fantastic receiver)

Rodriguez as Floyd (47 Rec as a fullback)

I'm actually 2 weeks clean lol.

I don't see why not, I'm not saying thats the numbers our guy will put up, that's the numbers the SF guys put up.

They had that one monster target in Rice, we have Marshall, they utilized the RB in the passing game, I think Forte is one of the best receiving RBs in the game, they used the FB in the passing game as well, I think Rodriguez can effectively fill that role.

I know Cutlers not Young, and calling him Young Lite behind the current line is silly, but behind a good line I don't think "Young Lite" is that big of a stretch.

The 02 Raiders had Garner catching 91 passes.

Let's just say I like the way he gets the RB involved.

NFL playoffs predictions...I would love Cincy to beat the Texans but it ain't happening. GB beats Minny. Got the Ravens over the Colts and Seattle beating Wash.

Not sure I can disagree, but when I thought about those same names, I felt like I was filling out a tourney bracket and putting all the #1 seeds in the final four. That's how it's supposed to turn out based on the records...which makes me think there has to be a surprise buried in there.

I'd love for the surprise of this week to be Minny beating GB because of AP, dude deserves to go far in the playoffs, he is such a beast, especially considering the knee injury.

I'm going to say you are largely overstating his impact on San Fran and believing he is going to turn this Bears offense into the 95 49ers offense is pissing into the wind.

Well lets just leave it at the last line of my last post, I like the way he utilizes the RB into the passing game. With Forte being considered one of the better RBs in the league in the pass game I'd like to see him utilized even more. It keeps the defense on it toes.

I thought they did. When Scott was out there the line was much better. Problem was Bears also lost Louis (who played well). I really hope there was a reason Carimi was so terrible (e.g., he wasn't in shape due to the injury).

I wonder if this is more of a guy they might be looking at as a potential OC option. Would be really odd to pull this type of hire.
