2012-2013 NFL Thread

I'm still waiting on my Sox tickets I won from SOXOBAMAs last contest where he didn't pay up.

I sent those tickets and didn't hear from you until after the season, that you didn't get them. Seems a little fishy

You had from march- sept to ask about the tickets and yet you don't say anything until Nov.

I picked the 49ers to win the SB since early in the season but the Ravens just have something about them this season, they just beat two of the elite QBs in this league, at their house no less...they're like a baseball team that gets hot at the right moment and wins it all.

I'll still stick with SF, but I would not be surprised in the least if Baltimore wins, they are peaking right now.

The Ravens are a very impressive team. Should be a great game.

Tim Brown said, that the Raiders HC didn't want to win the Super Bowl against the Bucs. That he changed the entire game plan the day before the Super Bowl

Tim Brown has been talking a bit too much lately. Why would he bring that up a decade later? I recently read an article where he criticized the Trestman hiring and cited Trestman making Jerry Rice the number one WR in oakland over him as the reason he isn't a good hire. I kid you not.

Where are the pics from the NFC Championship?!?!

On another note. If the Ravens can win, and Ray Lewis either has a sack or any type of impact play Id imagine he has an inside track for MVP.

I don't think Tim Brown ever mentioned Jerry Rice. He said he thought Trestman was a great football mind, but didn't think he could lead a team.

"Brown had posted nine straight 1,000-yard receiving seasons with the Raiders entering 2002, the year Trestman took over as the team’s offensive coordinator. In that 2002 season, Jerry Rice emerged as the team’s leading receiver and Brown finished with 930 yards.

“The year he took over as offensive coordinator is also the year my reign with the Raiders ended because he made Jerry the No. 1 receiver instead of myself,” Brown said. “The year before I made the Pro Bowl and caught [91 passes for 1,165 yards] … and the year afterwards, the year he takes over I think I came like 50 yards from catching 1,000 yards in 10 or 11 straight seasons.

“Hey, look, I’m not a selfish player, but come on, if I put the work in, make this happen for me. We had some interesting words about that part of it.”

That's not why he said Trestman would be a bad head coach though. He doesn't think Trestman can command a room.

Although it's obvious he is pissed about losing that number 1 spot back then. Which is weird cause he still put up pretty big numbers in 2001 and 2002.

That was the example he gave though. It obviously has some part to play in his thinking that Trestman wouldn't be a good head coach. Probably a lack of loyalty to long term players or something. He just seems bitter in the article.

Why would you doubt that he went to the game?

I don't know why he is so bitter about it. He was 35 at time. It's not like he was 27 and they replaced him.

Yep, Kellen Davis was every bit as horrible this year as we believed him to be. PFF TE Drop Rate.

For those wondering where Kellen Davis is, it’s only the lack of catchable balls thrown his way that see him avoid the list. His 29.63 drop rate was bad enough that it would be something of a surprise to see him back in Chicago next year. You can’t drop eight balls and catch 19 and make it in this league.

Most useless player I've ever seen.

I actually can't believe that was all that he dropped. Every one of those was for crucial first downs it felt like. 19 catches from a TE...ridiculous.
