southsider2k5 Posted February 17, 2012 Share Posted February 17, 2012 It is funny to look back at the career of Gary Carter in relative terms to baseball history. Carter was an Expo for most of his career, and probably never would have left if it wasn't for the economic imbalances of baseball. The guy goes from there to the Mets and wins his World Series title that he never could, or would, win in Montreal. I bring this up because that was almost 30 years ago, and this still hasn't been fixed. We still have a group of teams that can't compete on the stage of baseball and is still a farm system to the high dollar teams. To me, this is Bud Selig's biggest failure as commish. You have got to be able to keep superstars in small markets. The NFL has figured it out, and the NHL is better about it. The NBA is the worst, so at least MLB has that going for it.
