iamshack
QUOTE (daa84 @ Feb 27, 2012 -> 04:04 PM) As a student, I have access to tons of books in PDF format- textbooks, review books, question books, etc when using them, I ALWAYS print them out instead of reading them from my ipad For studying the readers just dont work - can't write on them, mark them up in different colors, can't flip from one book to another easily, etc I think most of these concerns will be addressed as textbooks in ebook readers develop more. Soxbadger
I basically do all my reading on computer, the only time I print things is if I need to bring them with me.
JPN366
QUOTE (GoodAsGould @ Feb 26, 2012 -> 02:46 AM) I think money will keep textbooks alive. Digital textbooks are just as expensive. Check out the textbook section on Amazon Kindle.
Texsox
Money should be why digital "app books" take over. It is so much easier to buy textbooks peer to peer via eBay, Amazon, and other sites. The traditional earners of that money are cut out. Linking an "app book" to one or two devices will get the publisher and University back in the game. I'm thinking the formula could look like this Traditional Cost of write + cost to priint + profit = cost of comsumer App Books Cost to write + profit = cost to consumer. It should save the consumer money while keeping profits about the same. It will be the publishing factories that lose.
GoodAsGould
QUOTE (Tex @ Feb 27, 2012 -> 09:50 AM) I believe you are correct for those people who grew up with actual books. But for this generation, who will grow up with eReaders and perhaps without newspapers, reading bits and bytes from a computer screen will offer that same experience. I still like a book in my hand. The turning of the pages, etc. Im only 25 and I still feel this way, yeah ebook has its advantages... but nothing beats having the actual book.
