southsider2k5
Jerry Crasnick @jcrasnick Adam Dunn just hit a rocket for a double off Michael Kirkman. I didn't see Dunn hit two balls this hard all year in 2011 #whitesox

Dick Allen
QUOTE (ptatc @ Mar 8, 2012 -> 02:52 PM) Is it a coincidence that Dunn is playing 1B and hitting well today? Probably. He hit better as a DH last season than the days he played the field. Hopefully he can make a comeback, but hits March 8th don't mean much. Balta1701
"It was good, starting out with guys swinging the bat and Adam getting great at-bats like Morel (and Beckham)," Ventura said. "It’s nice to see them swinging like that, kind of piecing it together. The first few days you would get a couple of good at-bats but nothing would really happen. "Today was nice for the lineup to do that, and (Hector) Santiago in there, obviously, it’s a tough lineup to see him come in there and do that is impressive." Santiago struck out three during his two scoreless innings that helped set the tone for Ventura's first exhibition win as Sox manager. "It’s good to get wins just for the psyche of guys walking on the field, shaking hands," Ventura said after the game. "But you know, most of the guys that you want to see do it are already driving home. "It’s good for the young guys to kind of finish it off and do that, but I’m concerned about those first five innings a little more than the end right now." Meanwhile, Ventura wasn't about to get caught up in the hype over Friday's game against the Cubs at Camelback Ranch. "It’s fun just because everybody gets all excited," Ventura said. "We’ll probably have a bigger crowd than we normally do. But not for me. We are just playing and everybody get there at-bats and do everything. You don’t want to go out and lay an egg, either."
