DeAza better not keep repeating that throw through to the plate and putting runners at 2B when they should be at first still.

Saw that enough with Rios last year.

Sveum's the 52nd manager of Cubs.

In the 1950's, they had "head coaches" and not managers, interesting.

I have to say that was a very exciting first inning watching our guys swing the bat. I also hate to see AJ in the 2 hole (just awful) but Dunn just missed one (and made good solid contact with 2 strikes against a lefty) which is something we almost didn't see ALL of last year. For me that is incredibly encouraging.

Regarding Sale, his velocity looked ok, not great, but he did reach back on a few fastballs for the K he had that had some life on them.

That's because they used 3 coaches as one manager.

I love seeing our #2 hitter (whomever it is) NOT BUNTING in the 1st inning.

Nobody gave away more outs that our "quitter" manager over the last several years.

What a fantastic post

Don't much care for the WGN boxscore graphic this season

The location is moronic. Enough with catering to the select few sports fans who haven't upgraded to HD televisions. However, today's broadcast, though widescreen, isn't HD, so hopefully the location is moved.

If I remember correctly, they called it a "college of coaches". It was a P. K. Wrigley 'idea'. I remember getting baseball cards that ID'd the Cubs ... um ... leader as a "Head Coach". That would change after a few weeks and someone else would take over. This was in the early sixties.
