Dick Allen
From the Soxtalk scouting reports I read when he was originally lost, I am stunned the Twins returned a future All Star.
southsider2k5
QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Mar 21, 2012 -> 12:22 PM) From the Soxtalk scouting reports I read when he was originally lost, I am stunned the Twins returned a future All Star. He is a White Sox now, and therefore he sucks again.
SOXOBAMA
I never knew why so many Sox fans bash Kenny for not protecting him, I knew he would be back.
GoSox05
I like how players can be returned. Like he was broken or something.

I think a lot of people thought there was a pretty good chance he'd be returned

No you didn't. The fact is the Sox were at about 36 on the 40-man when he was left unprotected. Doyle had a very good AFL. And if he did anything in spring training, he would have made the Twins roster. Even if was just a bullpen spot. Quite simply, he stunk up the joint in Florida the last couple weeks, and the Twins couldn't keep him. But you didn't know he would stink in spring training. You just guessed right. Swingandalongonetoleft
It's obvious that he was sent to spy on their method of producing ballplayers. Kenny operates as stealthily as a desert breeze that quietly builds up to be a sandstorm.

caulfield12
This is like the revisionism after Orlando Cabrera left claiming Williams was a genius to force him to leave when many were sweating if he would actually depart or not and we'd end up stuck with him and an arbitration raise in salary, blocking Alexei Ramirez from SS to boot. He would have had to stay on the Twins roster the entire season. The guy is 26 years old putting up numbers in A ball and a huge pitchers' park in AA. He really isn't anywhere near a big time prospect. Odds were the Sox were going to be able to get him back at some point. KW made JR $25k, and now we can see what Doyle can do in AAA. caulfield12
So, in summary, Terry Doyle and Tyler Kuhn might not have as much of an impact as previously envisioned by some. Doyle has to start out behind Molina/Axelrod/Stewart and probably Castro and Hector Santiago. Behind him, he has the likes of Petricka and Rienzo. But it's nice to have a little depth for a change, just not 100% sure how "quality" that depth is.
witesoxfan
QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ Mar 21, 2012 -> 12:56 PM) If there was any rotation in the league he had a chance of making, it was the Twins. No. Carl Pavano, Francisco Liriano, Scott Baker, Nick Blackburn, Brian Duensing, Jason Marquis, Anthony Swarzak - which two are you going to kick out to put Terry Doyle in your rotation? This is also not including Liam Hendriks who looks like a pretty solid pitcher too. About the only team where Terry could have made the rotation is Houston.
