Guest hotsoxchick1
just found this little exerpt from espn and look at whos name is at the end of this distinguished list.......lol...... oh if only we were to get rid of him....... could it be possible......or am i just dreaming......lol....heres part of the article.... Then, guess what the week after Nashville shows on your Advent calender? Yup, non-tender day, Dec. 20. In all likelihood, there will be well over 100 free agents unsigned, then there will be another 25-40 players thrown into the market with the non-tenders (names like Marlon Anderson, Travis Lee, Carlos Febles, Jeff Suppan, Rolando Arrojo, Brian Daubach, Shane Spencer, Brad Fullmer, Quinton McCracken, Jimmy Anderson, Antonio Alfonseca, John Halama, Todd Ritchie -- and others). That weekend, the club offices close for the holidays, and when they re-open there are 150-something players in flux.

Chisoxfn
I've seen two different things, one says that the Sox still have a little bit of time to sign him still, while others say they had to make the decision by December 7th, and thats how I always understood it works. My guess is he's been released. He made good money last year, so the Sox probably feel they can spend that 3.5 mill on someone better, like Omar Daal, and then add the extra pitcher using whatever means they were planning on to lure in another starter. Mr. Showtime
They have more time and he'll be back.
Jjav829
They might as well bring him back. He'll definately be cheaper. If they can't reach a contract by the 20th, and go to arbitration, the Sox will win.
Chisoxfn
So the Sox did offer him arbitration or they have till the 20th to offer him it? If they have to the 20th, how come they have that long?

They haven't done anything yet, but will probably avoid arbitration and sign him. Im sure he knows that he won't win in arbitration.

Im sure he knows that he won't win in arbitration. then what the hell does this mean.. i got it from a sox article...... Three players -- pitchers Jim Parque, Todd Ritchie, and Kelly Wunsch -- remain eligible for salary arbitration. The White Sox have until Dec. 7 to offer players arbitration. If clubs do not offer arbitration to eligible players, they lose their rights to sign the free agents until May 1, 2003

Chisoxfn
I think they accidentally clumped Ritchie into that pile. The Pirates have Kip to show for it, Fogg isn't anything.
MurcieOne
Anyone fans of John Halama? I wouldn't mind seeing him in the S&B.

Well he isn't a FA and Dec 7th was the FA arbitration deadline. Dec. 20th is the non FA arbitration deadline. I don't see why they wouldn't bring him back. He showed some good stuff last year, and whether they agree to a contract with him or go to arbitration, he will be cheaper.
Guest hotsoxchick1
he better be cheaper.. he sure as hell didnt give us much in return for what he was paid last season.. he should do this one for free...........
