justBLAZE
Hector Felipe Santiago Position: LHP BORN: December 16, 1987 in Newark, New Jersey BATS: Right THROWS: Left ACQUIRED: 2006 30th round – Florida community college EXPERIENCE: 5 seasons 2011: Santiago, who split time with the Winston-Salem Dash and Birmingham Barons in the first half of 2011, was called up to the Majors for the first time on June 26, 2011. He made his MLB debut on July 6, pitching a perfect ninth inning against the Kansas City Royals. SCOUTING REPORT: It’s amazing the difference a pitch can make. Santiago added a rarely used screwball to his arsenal for the 2011 season and it gave him a much-needed, reliable off-speed pitch. He moved into the starting rotation for the first time in his career and flourished. His fastball sits in the low-to-mid 90s and he also features an occasional slider. 2012 Hector has made the 25-men Chicago White Sox roster, out of Spring Training, for the 2012 season and is rumored to be a candidate for the team's vacant closer position.
