farmteam
QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Nov 9, 2012 -> 12:22 PM) I agree with this. They could greatly improve, but with so many good teams in the league, there is a chance that their record might not be good enough. If they can have a good non-conference season, get some excitement going and the Hall rockin', hopefully they can get a couple big home wins against the top teams. Either way, there is no more Bruce Weber, so things are looking up. In Groce We Trust! Yeah. Illinois could end up being a legitimately good team and still finish 9th in the conference,
bigruss
QUOTE (RockRaines @ Nov 9, 2012 -> 11:51 AM) I think they will be better than most think. Groce has the ability to get more out of Paul and Richardson than they have shown. There is a TON riding on Abrams and Paul being able to play PG effectively. bigruss
QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Nov 9, 2012 -> 02:57 PM) Anything short of a tournament appearance is underperforming for Illinois. Normally I agree, but for this season that's a bit lofty. Weber left talent, but Groce is going to have to do wonders to shore up PG. Groce has shown the ability to enhance the PG skills of SG's. Jamar Butler was a shooter until Groce got ahold of him. Plus in his offense there will probably be multiple guys bringing the ball up. You're more optimistic about Illinois sports than most Illinois fans I'd give these chances (independent of each other): NCAA Tourney: 30% Bubble Team: 50% NIT: 80%

Groce has 100000% more energy than Bruce and actually has a sense of how to run an offense instead of just running a 1960's motion set. Oh I totally get that, and it's what has me super stoked to watch Illinois basketball again. But, Weber didn't leave much in the way of ballhandlers, and Groce's system needs that desperately. I'm hoping Paul/Abrams and co. can step up, but it's keeping me levelheaded going into this season.

RockRaines
WOw, I will be surprised if this game goes the distance. The floor becomes wet after 30 seconds. All we need is a blown out knee and Im walking off the court.

RockRaines
QUOTE (ZoomSlowik @ Nov 9, 2012 -> 06:25 PM) This is definitely one of the goofiest things I've seen watching college basketball. I wouldn't risk it if it were me. The floor got warm during the day and then it dropped 30 degrees. Thats something a f***ing high school kid would have figured out. Next time find a gym on a base and play there. If Thomas blows a knee I am going to f***ing lose it.
RockRaines
They should of put Aaron Craft in charge of this event, he's probably smarter than half these morons.
RockRaines
The media is reporting the floor is flexing a lot and also that it rained two day ago and the floor wasn't covered. Seriously guys?

Soxbadger
Makes perfect sense for Crean, Indiana fans will probably never love him more than they do right now.
ZoomSlowik
MSU goes down, looked a bit sloppy. UConn has a couple of really solid guards.
Rex Hudler
QUOTE (RockRaines @ Nov 9, 2012 -> 07:07 PM) Crean signed to 2020, was that really necessary? Less bugged by the extension than by the way it was announced. On the court, right before tipoff in a cheerleading fashion? Really? Rex Hudler
So-so first half for the Hoosiers. Pretty sloppy. Ferrell looks good. Love Will Sheehey, but he CAN'T commit 3 fouls in less than 30 seconds, all out of frustration. Zeller is Zeller. Nothing fancy, just good. zenryan
I guess the first "big" upset of the season is South Alabama going into Florida State and winning by 6. Hamilton must only feel comfortable coaching when fans are breathing down his neck.

zenryan
I guess thats a big upset in name but Purdue isnt ranked and was only favored by 5. FSU was favored by 13 and ranked.
ZoomSlowik
Lame, Florida/Georgetown gets called at the half too. Make sure you can actually manage these games on the carriers before you schedule them!
