greg775
QUOTE (flavum @ Jul 2, 2012 -> 02:31 PM) Marlins are only 4 games out of a playoff spot. I don't know if they are the only team to do this, but their 5 starters have made every one of their starts. If that continues, Bell actually closes games, and some of the underachieving offensive players start hitting, the Marlins could be a second half team. 10 NL teams are very much in it, and the Marlins are one of them. It's pretty obvious the Marlins are going to make the playoffs. The question is: Is it destiny for Sox n Miami to meet in the WS the first-year post Ozzie. soxmaniac!
I've gotta admit, this soxfan49 guy is rather impressive. Maybe I should take him under my wing? Make him exciting and likeable like I did quinarvy. He's just overly hostile like Greg. He doesn't realize Greg is like a crazy uncle, one where you have to realize he'll say some crazy stuff,

The question is: Is it destiny for Sox n Miami to meet in the WS the first-year post Ozzie. By that logic, it's pretty obvious that the Royals will make the playoffs. A team should be in or near first place and above .500 to be considered obvious playoff teams.

A team should be in or near first place and above .500 to be considered obvious playoff teams. That's not equally obvious? I'm not sure even Greg believes the Royals will finish in first, only that they'll beat up the White Sox (especially at USCF) and finish ahead of us in the standings. G&T
QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Jul 2, 2012 -> 08:15 AM) Catching a game at Miller Park on Wednesday. Ozzie & his band of misfits happen to be the opponent, although looks like I miss #56 by one day. The tailgating is epic. Even though they make you go into the game now. greg775
QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Jul 4, 2012 -> 06:24 AM) But he keeps a loose clubhouse! I can't stand him. How long before he's fired? How can you not stand him? Have you seen his interviews? The man is likeable and I wish him well. I want the Sox to win every game, but I hold no ill will toward Ozzie. Why do you? I think of him and think of WS.
caulfield12
George Clooney is likeable. Should he be the manager of the Marlins? He also handles interviews quite nicely, and has actually done lots of worthwhile volunteer work around the world.
Dick Allen
QUOTE (soxfan49 @ Jul 3, 2012 -> 08:33 PM) RT @clarksencer: Ozzie Guillen went on post-game, profanity-laced rant in clubhouse, for all to hear, ripping pitchers after Tuesday's loss. It all part of his genius, keeping the pressure off his team and the spotlight on himself. I can't believe intelligent people actually bought that for years, but they did. I guess it was just hard to accept Ozzie wasn't about the White Sox or now the Marlins, Ozzie is about Ozzie. Does anyone think its just a coincidence the 2012 Marlins are really going like the Sox teams after 2005 with the same expectations? I think deep down Loria knows Ozzie isn't a very good manager and hasn't sold the tickets he was hoping. He's probably holding on for some sort of miracle and hoping the people in south Florida hop on the Ozzie bandwagon, but its becoming more remote by the day. Quin
QUOTE (greg775 @ Jul 4, 2012 -> 01:37 AM) How can you not stand him? Have you seen his interviews? The man is likeable and I wish him well. I want the Sox to win every game, but I hold no ill will toward Ozzie. Why do you? I think of him and think of WS. Ozzie was great when I was 13 and less of an ass. But since then he's become a clubhouse cancer (as a manager, that is not a good thing) and his interviews lack any semblance of professionalism or class. That's not likable, that's detestable. He's not the White Sox manager anymore so I hold no loyalty to Ozzie, in sports you root for the laundry. So now that he's gone and I'm almost out of my teenage years it is incredibly easy to see what an arrogant, self-righteous prick that Ozzie Guillen is. I am sure they find that very likeable. It is funny how everyone is saying Ozzie is taking the heat to relieve the pressure on his team, but what happened here is the exact opposite. Ozzie used to say stuff like "Its my fault they werent prepared, maybe i should quit blah blah blah". That is not what he said here, he hung his team out to dry. Well, everyone but Heath Bell, which makes no damn sense at all. That guy gets paid to save games and he hasnt done that at all, and for some reason Ozzie protects him. I still think it did work in 2005 and 2006. Once they started bringing in rookies and younger players things went wrong. Plus I'm not real sure he was trying after 2008. Maybe he'll resort to "Well Ozzie gave the Sox their FIRST World Championship!" That would be about number 8,293,450 of the things that would matter to me if/when the Sox win another Championship.
