I know Frank is better, but Konerko will be making his 6th All Star appearance as a White Sox this year. Frank Thomas made 5.

Frank might have had 2x that many had there not been 4-5 other 1b who were loaded up on synthetic testosterone.

Palmeiro, McGwire, Giambi immediately came to mind. That's about 10 all star appearances during Frank's run just from those 3.

There's also a Mo Vaughn start in there and a Tino Martinez start. Not saying those guys juiced, but Mo wouldn't shock me...and Tino wasn't as good as Frank whether he played in NYC or not.

McGwire Was in the NL by 1998. The only guys who screwed him were probably Giambi and Edgar Martinez. Frank wasn't healthy some years and he primarily a DH. Unfortunately he also paid for not being very kind to the media.

Thomas put up OPS's of 1.006 and .975 in 1991 and 1992, but did not make the All Star Team. McGwire made both those years, and Palmeiro was there in 91 as well.

Frank was then in the high .800's in 98-99, didn't make the AS team, while Palmeiro did.

Then had his return season in 2000, 1.061 OPS, first place team, and Jason Giambi started the AS game. And once again, 2003, the same story. Frank hit 42 HR, mid .900's OPS, Giambi was the AS reserve.

There's at least 4 years where he was a deserving all star but had the roiders in front of him, and then maybe 2 more if he got the same kind of credit that anyone else got.

also a 2 time MVP probably would have been top 2 with Griffey in 94 minus the strike and he will be in the HOF before all those juicers. He was screwed by Giambi big time and probably is the greatest White Sox of all time.

At moment, #WhiteSox pen is Heath, Jones, Omogrosso, Reed, Santiago, Septimo, Thornton. How many of those names did you know in March?

With Jesse Crain on DL, rival exec expects #WhiteSox to look hard at acquiring reliever. Makes sense. Their bullpen is very young.

Ventura on Sunday starter: Right now it's Axelrod (on 3 days rest).

Peter Gammons ‏@pgammo

Hats off to the way Robin Ventura and Don Cooper have handled Chris Sale, starting 7 times on 5 days rest and twice on six.

Alex Rios has the best batting average in the American League since May 29, .375. He's 19-for-38 (.500) with 3 HR, 9 RBI in last 9 games.

It's nice to go from a dominating performance by Konerko to a dominating performance by Rios.

The streaky first half review:

10-6

7-15 (17-21)

14-2 (31-23)

5-11 (36-34)

8-3 (44-37)

How about a nice, consistent, 81 - 0 second half, 125 wins, and kick ass in October?

Fixed it for you my friend.

Probably nobody cares, but I was surprised to see that former Sox no field, no hit infielder Jayson Nix has surfaced with the Yankees. Geez, what's the world coming to?

Half of the Yankees roster is ex-Sox.

The best 2B he'd ever seen in the minors, according to Carney Lansford.

It was defensive second baseman and alot of scouts backed him on it. He was all world there. Probably would of posted the highest UZR ever (and multiple GGs) if he could actually hit.
