iamshack
QUOTE (KG#1 @ Apr 8, 2012 -> 09:04 PM) Well, Gavin is a mediocre pitcher, I mean, I hope we get something decent or some good potential. But really, when trading mediocre, what really can we get? Another project pitcher/position player, sure. But we aren't getting a A+ potential for an okay pitcher. He's not mediocre...he's well-above mediocre. Unfortunately, he wasn't blessed with a whole lot above the shoulders.
Soxfest
QUOTE (greg775 @ Apr 8, 2012 -> 09:03 PM) Sox getting their asses kicked on Sunday night baseball. Hope we can take 2 of 3 in Cleveland if not small crowd for Tigers? Sox Sunday night record is just terrible, they not just lose, but get smoked. greg775
QUOTE (fathom @ Apr 9, 2012 -> 03:05 AM) People in Chicago don't care how good or bad the team is until a few month into the season. You care way too much about the crowds this year. Barring a miracle, it's going to be a mediocre year at the gate for the Sox. Yay. Somebody acknowledged one of my posts. I thought I was getting the silent treatment this year (cue that one awful commercial about the silent treatment)

DirtySox
QUOTE (Cali @ Apr 8, 2012 -> 09:00 PM) Another mediocre start for Gavin. What new? I hope his option doesn't get picked up. AJ Gavin and Gordon could all be gone by next year. Hopefully sooner if KW gets trigger happy Gavin is routinely bad in April. I hope his season-long numbers continue as in years past. A 3 to 4 fWAR workhorse starter has plenty of value, be it in a trade, or for this team if they miraculously are able to be competitive this year or next. Plenty of teams would like to have Gavin Floyd. See Boston and Toronto.
fathom
QUOTE (daa84 @ Apr 9, 2012 -> 02:05 AM) its going to be a huge struggle to score runs all year....morel, viciedo, de aza, beckham and rios are all fringe-mlb offensive players IMO AJ?
jeffro2525
QUOTE (Capn12 @ Apr 8, 2012 -> 09:05 PM) Well, I went into this weekend hoping for a 3-3 record after Cleveland...so its still attainable. We aren't playing some chumps here, mind you...they ARE one of, if not the best hitting teams around. It's not discouraging losing 2 of 3 in Texas, but when you come into Texas you better be packin' more than 6 runs in your holster...plus Gavin's underwhelming performance...frustrating series. kageman129
QUOTE (iamshack @ Apr 8, 2012 -> 10:05 PM) He's not mediocre...he's well-above mediocre. Unfortunately, he wasn't blessed with a whole lot above the shoulders. Maybe its just me, but I put him on par with Javy Vazquez. Its definitely known that the stuff is there, and there are glimpses. But when it comes down to it, he is a mental midget, and one mistake turns to 3 to 4 to 5 mistakes rather quickly. Soon enough you lose, or you need a good offense to bail you out. You end up being around 12-12 on the year. So, giving you innings, strikeouts and showing glimpses of being awesome are there, but in the end, he really didn't do that great. Mediocre in my books. A 3 to 4 fWAR workhorse starter has plenty of value, be it in a trade, or for this team if they miraculously are able to be competitive this year or next. greg775
I wish we could have opened at Cleveland then traveled to Texas. Hope our four and five starters do OK vs. the Tribe. Or are the Sox not going with a No. 5 for a bit?
Capn12
Lets be honest, we've given up 11 runs to the best hitting team and AL champs, on the road...we're not getting destroyed...it'd help if we could get some hits with RISP though.
