fathom
QUOTE (Jake @ Apr 15, 2012 -> 08:45 PM) Can't wait for everyone to get worked up with the "I told you we had no bullpen!" For comeback games after a win streak, you're going to need to win with your worst relievers on the mound. Sometimes you don't because they are, well, your worst relievers. We have a dynamite back-end of the bullpen. Stewart and Jones are minor league caliber pitchers, in my opinion. This is where Jason Frasor being a ridiculous bust hurts the Sox. JohnCangelosi
QUOTE (fathom @ Apr 15, 2012 -> 02:43 PM) Problem is that both Jones and Stewart have NO business pitching in close games right now. Correct. Easily our Achilles heel is in middle relief, not withstanding our question marks on offense.

danman31
QUOTE (fathom @ Apr 15, 2012 -> 02:44 PM) Jones just cannot be in the majors with his lack of control. Yeah he has no business being on an MLB roster. I don't see how the White Sox aren't aware of that.

The nice thing is the guy that can't find the plate is hitting 97 mph on his moving fastball, has a ton of drop on an 83 mph changeup, and has won "best curveball in White Sox farm system" several years running. Jake
Locating his fastball much better after Coop visit. That thing is fast and it moves. Give him a few more outings before you quit on him.

Yeah, we're not saying he doesn't have the stuff to eventually make it. He just needs more refinement though, and I still think they'll have to change how he shows the ball. sunofgold
Maybe he belong. Nice way to get out of the jam. If he started that inning instead of Sale, maybe the score would be only 2-0...but it is 3-0. We can comeback...GO WHITE SOX!

Not really in middle relief, with bullpens that go 7 deep. If a guy can throw a 97 mph fastball for a strike, he's not going to be long for the minors. He doesn't have to dump it, but if this will be a consistent problem they need to rethink the use. Use it when he's ahead, or use it against the Miguel Cabrera/Prince Fielder types when you're pitching around them and behind in the count

caulfield12
Back to the same problem from 2009-2011. We're putting so much pressure on the pitchers with our lack of offense, eventually it's going to start wearing on the pitching staff. They can't throw a shutout or 1 hitter every time out. Of course, this Tigers' line-up is hard to keep down for 3 consecutive games, even by the 2005 White Sox staff.
