TaylorStSox
QUOTE (fathom @ Apr 24, 2012 -> 11:18 PM) And Ventura just completely blew this game for us. Absolutely got schooled by Melvin in this inning. That decision to PH was brilliant.

caulfield12
And Matt Thornton continues to get decimated by the Oakland A's. Tough luck possible loss for Gavin Floyd here. Did Ventura really want to face Suzuki there? I mean...he's under 200, but one of their better clutch RBI guys. 2 Aprils in a row for Matt against the A's. Jake
Thornton has a pretty good track record against RH batters, I'm not upset about him coming in.
fathom
Should be seeing AJP leading off with Dunn batting 3rd next inning.

caulfield12
Maybe Matt Thornton should never appear against the Oakland A's. What a nightmare. Not that we really deserved to win this game, exactly.
caulfield12
Nathan Jones warming in the pen. He's the next one in. And the nightmare continues for Thornton.
TaylorStSox
I really don't know why you bring in Thornton when you need a double play. I would have stuck with Gavin. Meh.
Soxfest
Matt is lighter fluid against a very weak Oakland offense....................another bad WGN outing.

Ventura should get that one right. Hopefully he learns from that mistake. Based on how quick he moved Morel down...he doesn't appear to be as thick-headed as our previous manager, so I think he will learn his lesson. Jake
Meh, Matt just needs to throw something other than the same pitch in the same spot repeatedly. Again, I don't see why there is some illusion that Thornton should only pitch to lefties. I understand he's not a ground ball pitcher, but he is a strikeout pitcher and our shutdown guy late in games. That is absolutely his situation to come in. ChiliIrishHammock24
If I were the A's, I would leave Cy Malone in there. 98 pitches, and a team that has no clue against him.
