Dick Allen
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Apr 25, 2012 -> 03:17 PM) Real nice defensive play by Escobar on a play that could only be made in Oakland I'm guessing its a pop up that would have been 20 rows back at USCF. jeffro2525
QUOTE (KG#1 @ Apr 25, 2012 -> 03:15 PM) I think they need to try out Rios leading off and De Aza in the two-spot - I think thats what you had suggested before. Get some guys on base for Dunn, Konerko and A.J. Just hit AJ second. DeAza AJ Rios Konerko Dunn Alexei Viciedo Becks Morel Viciedo off-days DeAza Fukudome Rios Konerko Dunn AJ Alexei Becks Morel That would be my perfect order. caulfield12
Can't even decide who you would even bench first, Morel or Beckham. Morel's a lot younger and has less experience, but he seems to be more out of his game, there's all the K's and then his defense has been shaky. At least with Beckham, he's giving you close to Gold Glove-level defense. They're going to have to start playing Lillibridge there if this keeps up for another week or two, despite Manto saying the team's not really going to look at batting averages until 250-300 AB's this year. Beckham has put some nice swings on at times and has hit the ball hard every now and then. Most of this year, Morel looks worse than the guys in Sluggers batting cages after 18 beers. I'd keep playing him though until it becomes too ridiculous.

Lillibridge has got to shorten his swing again though. He looks like a different player this year compared to his approach last year when he was going well. You can live with one of Morel/Beckham struggling, but both of them really hitting at such a miserable level really hurts your lineup.
caulfield12
Well, it was nice while it lasted. AJ was due to hit into a DP sooner or later. And he's still hitting way over his head at .346.

hogan873
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Apr 25, 2012 -> 03:15 PM) Scott Merkin @scottmerkin Cespedes beat the throw on SB but overslid at second. So White Sox now 8-for-10 in nailing base stealers. Talk about a turnaround Last year, White Sox catchers (AJ, Castro, Flowers, Lucy) were 22-of-157 in nabbing base stealers Holy turnaround Batman. From 22-157 to 8-10 (so far)? Wow.

caulfield12
QUOTE (fathom @ Apr 25, 2012 -> 03:24 PM) Lillibridge has got to shorten his swing again though. He looks like a different player this year compared to his approach last year when he was going well. You can live with one of Morel/Beckham struggling, but both of them really hitting at such a miserable level really hurts your lineup. No idea. The guy did have the 2 hit game recently. One would think with close to everyday play, he'd get a bit of a rhythm with 4-5 appearances every game and would/could shorten his swing naturally. They're going to have to do something for Brent's mental health before he falls apart completely.
southsider2k5
Sale through 4IP 12 batters faced, 41 pitches, 3K, 1H, 0BB. Still no score after
caulfield12
The biggest plus for Chris Sale is only 41 pitches through 4. He's learning how to be less concerned with blowing guys away in the mid 90's and earning easier outs more quickly by letting up on his fastball unless he really needs to get a K with runners in scoring position. Using his fielders. That's what they're there for. Work quickly, keep the D on its toes like Humber in the perfecto. Just like Dunn's improved swing and Rios' much improved hitting have nothing to do with the coaching...even though Dunn said Manto has been a big help. hogan873
Sale could be a strikeout machine, provided he doesn't get burnt out on innings eventually. What did he have, 11, the other day when he seemed to struggle? His pitches must be pretty deceiving to hitters.
