Pretty much what Stoney said, but in jest. He said one way to limit hurting your arm with a slider is to just not throw any more sliders.

Seriously, it's what Seattle did with King Felix, just had him not throw the slider his first year or two. If that pitch is extra stress...strengthen and adapt the arm first this year then turn him loose once the soreness has passed.

IIRC, they had an age limit on the pitch. Like he wasn't allowed to throw it until he was like 21 or something. They had him in their system since he was like 16 maybe.
