bigruss
QUOTE (greg775 @ May 23, 2012 -> 04:44 PM) I didn't like the line in the story that said he was not any help or not interested in being a help to young players. AJ gets that rep all the time yet Flowers has publically said that AJ has been great. Some guys need to grow up and see the bigger picture sometimes. Me neither. Again, can't seem to figure out what it means. I have to wonder if everyone was disappointed that he didn't turn into a 100 RBI player or something. Some guys need to grow up and see the bigger picture sometimes. Wonder if Odawg is friends with Dye. He did speak out once that he couldn't believe that nobody want Dye on their team. But this was when Dye was done. He might have gotten a reserve role but he wanted to be a starter.

cabiness42
Being a Dodgers fan as well as a Sox fan... I can tell you that Dodgers fans called O-Dog 'SloDog" and couldn't wait for him to leave. *shrug* I'm guessing the Dodgers had higher expectations for him than the Sox have now. All he has to do now is be better than Brent Morel.
Harry Chappas
QUOTE (Steve9347 @ May 22, 2012 -> 05:40 PM) Finally, I know what Jim Souhan is thinking. Guy sounded like he was trying to stir something up to get his name out there. He could not really say anything other than OD talks a lot and can make dumb base running plays. OK, sounds like he could be annoying but that dude sounded like a dick in his hatred but could not say really why.

southsider2k5
I don't know how he will hit, but he was legit over there in a couple of really good plays that he got a chance at. Morel wasn't even able to field like his usual self this year, probably because of the back problems. I know the big warning sign when Crede was having back problems was when balls started going under his glove and his throws started to float over to 1B. sunofgold
Looks like we have a 3rd baseman now. Of course, Morel could get healthy and starting hitting like he did last September. But until then we have a guy who can already field third and he will get better with more chances out there. And he should be able to hit at least .250 from the lower part of the lineup. Nice pickup from KW. Thank you SD for releasing him and paying him.
Jake
The plays we'll have to be worried about are the shots. Can he field a shot right to him, with no ability to create a hop? Will he take a ball off the chest? As a good infielder, I'm guessing yes but there may be some hiccups there. The real foreign move will be the step-dive plays on smashes to his left and right. Both the dive and the throw will be brand new motions and are hard to replicate in practice situations. As long as he hits some (.250?), I say you make Morel produce in AAA before you f*** around with that again while we're trying to compete. sunofgold
I believe that he played 3rd base in the minors. So it isn't completely foreign territory for him. Yes, it has been awhile but I think that he will fine at 3rd. I am not expecting him to be GG at 3rd, just hope that he can be average. Ideally Morel comes back healthy and hits better. If that happens, ODA would be a nice player to have on the bench. Morel though still is the future and we don't have much in the minors at third base. Morel plays solid D and have to hope that he develops like offensively. Very similar situation as when Crede started with us.

If Hudson is hitting well, we don't need Brent Morel. If we drop 10 out of the next 15, I guess who cares. If we're contending, I don't know if I want the guy that has only had one good month out of a season + in the majors (given a producing Hudson at 3B)

Jake
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ May 24, 2012 -> 05:50 PM) Hudson isn't Hudson of 5 years ago. He is another guy on the downside of his career. If Morel plays anywhere close to what he did during his run last year, he is way better than Hudson. If we're judging both players on their last season, I still don't see an advantage for Morel. Brent only spent 2 and a half seasons in the minor leagues, it's not like we're sending him to a level where he's spent 3 seasons or anything outrageous like that. I can't even imagine where his head is at right now. Let him hit for a little while unless this Hudson thing blows up in our face very quickly.
