If anything, Peavy was sticking up for Hudson because that's Peavy's ball to catch.

Its really never a pitcher's ball to catch. I think AJ was more upset with Hudson for not letting the ball go foul than not making the catch. It was clearly headed foul and never touched.

Despite the game winning hit last night, I am more than ready for the end of the Orlando Hudson era. It amazes me how a guy who has been in the league as long as he has could be such a baseball idiot.

Sometimes you get so caught up thinking that all of your tasks are new at your position that you fail to realize that most of them are the same

AJ's ball for sure, especially since he tried to catch it (didn't indicate that he couldn't find it). O-Dog clearly thought the ball was touched by the catcher standing underneath it, but he was wrong because AJ made that bad of a play. AJ got pissed at him for not letting the ball go, but AJ is an idiot for whiffing completely on a routine pop up.

It's the battle of the guy with more overall talent in all areas (but with brain lapses) versus the efficient guy low on talent (Morel).

Over the course of a regular season, you have to figure the former guy is of more value than the latter guy. Brain lapses will cost you a game here or there, but having a noodle for a bat will be a year long frustration, ending innings, putting more pressure on other hitters in the lineup, etc.

If you see a few bad plays and they frustrate you, and based on that you want to dump a guy, that's bad logic. Evaluations have to be made over longer periods of time than your last four beers consumed.

I don't agree with this at all. I think Brent is by far a better defender. If the back was affecting him at all, Brent is probably a better hitter too. Brent's OPS last year is about 100 points above where Hudson's is for this season.

Brent Morel has officially suffered a setback in rehab and will return to Chicago for more tests.

You have to wonder if he's got any chance of returning before the end of the year. It stinks, as it would have been good to see what he could have done healthy this year. Hopefully this forces KW to be more active going after a 3B.

We'll get about 2 more weeks of Hudson, all the while actively looking at outside sources of 3B. It wouldn't shock me if DV gets work there behind the scenes. If O-Dog turns things around, you'll probably see us stay the course.

I just can't imagine them wanting to put all that pressure on Viciedo when he's finally comfortable defensively in the outfield and improving.

It's just not fair to move a guy from 3B to 1B to RF to LF.

I'd actually be more in favor of moving Beckham, and finding a 2B.

But it's not a good move when you're taking away a Gold Glove caliber player at his position and creating two weaknesses.

If you move Viciedo, we're still not going to get much production out of Jordan Danks, and we might end up setting back Viciedo's career (again).

This can be tough.

Your second sentence says it all. If we see Gordo go anywhere, it may be SS at some point down the road (not this year unless there is an injury)

For offense, we're much more likely to have a replacement in LF than 3B or 2B. DV may well be the worst 3B ever which makes the point moot, but Jordan Danks may well be a somewhat productive outfielder. He's immensely talented, young, and was having a hell of a year when we gave him a call.

I'd rather release Viciedo than move him back to 3b.

Imagine how much better our lineup would be this year and moving forward if he could man the hot corner adequately...

but I doubt that he can, especially midseason and all that

He can't, and you're darn likely to screw with his bat by changing his focus again.
