mr_genius
QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ May 22, 2012 -> 01:15 PM) One of 10 "select" games? Let me guess. 6 vs. Seattle, 3 vs. Oakland, & 1 vs. KC? free Sox tickets still sound good to me
Bridgeport Sox
QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ May 22, 2012 -> 01:24 PM) CPD has something like 15,000 sworn officers, that's 30,000 free tickets they plan to give out. I really don't think anyone is going to complain if they aren't CHC or NYY games. We have no where near 15,000 LOL we wish we had that kind of help LOL

Probably should have looked it up. Looked it up. Hard to find a solid number published, but looks like 12-13k.

Soxbadger
Nice move by the Sox, hopefully they do something for Illinois State Police as well. If they are going to have empty seats, might as well get some goodwill out of it.
DukeNukeEm
I'm sure that with all the extra overtime they earned, they can get the beers themselves. The city isn't paying them the OT. just giving them free Sox tickets. WOOOOO

WOOOOO This is the kind of thing that gives the police a bad wrap, imo. They get paid a good wage to do a job thy chose, yet in my dealings with them there is a small portion of the force that feel entitled to freebees for doing their jobs instead of just being grateful when they are offered. I guess they're just reflective of society these days.

Its in their contract to get OT if they work 6 or 7 days out of a calender week, not to mention if they are pulling 12 hours shifts the entire time doing something as exhausting as riot control. Its an obligation by the city to pay it.
