GoodAsGould
I think Steve Stone is a great announcer but it is nice to hear Hawk matched with someone he has chemistry with, I was also sad when thy broke up him and DJ for that reason. I really enjoyed when I think they had a series of Hawk, , DJ, and Ventura in the booth. With Hawk at this stage in his career maybe the 3 man booth is needed. Steve9347
The problem, it seems, is not Hawk. The problem is Stone and Hawk together are a huge fail. Wimpy with Hawk has been great. Now, let's all remember, as well, that the Hawkeroo is at his best when the Sox are winning, and they have won 7 straight.
black jack
Stone is superior to Wimpy at analyzing a game in every way, save one: keeping me entertained. The bottom line is it's an entertainment business they're in. Of course I grew up on The Wimperoo so I'm completely biased. Stone is very good at what he does even though it feels like he's just spouting off stats half the time. His pitching insight is excellent. He's IMO, leaps and bounds above DJ. BUT Wimpy's Wimpy. I love Hawk and Wimpy.... warts and all.
southsider2k5
Daryl Van Schouwen @CST_soxvan Tom Pacieorek on third day with Sox: "I don't want it to end. I'd like to stay with these guys forever." "The atmosphere is wonderful. Not to put anything bad on Ozzie or what was going on last year, but a weight has been lifted." "Anybody who had apprehensions about Robin Ventura being the manager, that has got to be squashed. He’s unbelievable with the guys.'' Princess Dye
Hawk and Wimpy have been a lot of fun these few days, but kind of light on the analysis. I don't know if that fun would last over a whole season...I think it's more just an example of how much history they have and it's basically flowing out during a short-term (winning) situation Stone is so informative. Anyone who says he's boring is looking for bells & whistles, I guess. Are these people also fans of Stacey King? I can't see how two half-crazed noisemakers in one Sox booth would be bearable. Princess Dye
"Check that," a Hawk and Stacey King team would set some mic clipping records, now that I think about it. But I'd stab my ears out by the all-star break. Edited May 30, 2012 by Jose Paniagua
