fathom
QUOTE (Jake @ May 30, 2012 -> 06:22 PM) Wow, that is the worst call I've ever seen. Really. Just the umps being big wimps after the Red Sox/Rays stuff last weekend.
Kyyle23
so can anyone explain to me why Quintana is throwing at someone, while winning the game
Jake
I'm not even convinced that it was intentional. Maybe, but I figured AJ knew why he got hit. I'm astonished at what the umpire did. My heart's breaking for Q
Dick Allen
QUOTE (fathom @ May 30, 2012 -> 01:20 PM) Really stupid by Q and AJ I don't know.........it might cost them some bullpen, but tomorrow is an offday, and protecting your hitters does a lot for team chemistry. Throwing him out is silly, there should be a warning. We are now finally in an era where drilling Sox hitters will not be tolerated.
caulfield12
They better throw out any Rays pitcher for any pitch that comes halfway close to any Sox batters for the rest of this game. Well, luckily we have the off day for our bullpen. But Greg gets his wish, payback for our two hit batters in this game. Which was directly related to the AJ spike of Zobrist. Ventura kicked out of the game, too.

Then it's fair to both teams. This is totally unfair to the Sox.
ScottyDo
QUOTE (chw42 @ May 30, 2012 -> 02:22 PM) I don't get this at all...was there anything before this other than the HBP of A.J. that could have caused this? This is so f***ing stupid. Well, Beckham HBP too...but hardly seems like the Sox should be punished for that. Server crash!
southsider2k5
Apparently there already had been a warning according to Farmio.
iamshack
Well s***.... Tezcatlipoca, still angry, laced Quetzalcoatl's drink with a poisonous mushroom, causing him to commit incest with his sister. Being a good god, Quetzalcoatl was so overcome with shame that he left Teotihuacan, never to return.

Princess Dye
Even if that hook call is wrong, we need to prioritize winning a game over macho bull s***. There's a reason I keep my fingers out of the garbage disposal, even when it's not running.
greg775
QUOTE (caulfield12 @ May 30, 2012 -> 07:21 PM) Payback for the AJ Pierzynski spike. Well, there's Greg's revenge. AJ thrown out of the game? Zobrist was the one who was spiked...then they throw behind Zobrist? This was a really really dumb move...doesn't make any sense. Nathan Jones will be in the game. Should have at least issued a warning there. Did he issue a warning to both teams after AJ got hit? You are right though, he had to retaliate. This is baseball. That's funny how Zobrist laughed. caulfield12
QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ May 30, 2012 -> 01:23 PM) so can anyone explain to me why Quintana is throwing at someone, while winning the game The unwritten code of baseball. Obviously it was intentional, Zobrist was the one involved in the spiking yesterday with AJ. There's just no reason not to at least issue a warning first. Wegner has a Napoleon Complex, big-time.
