brijames
Say whatever you want, after 20 years of following this franchise you become more than qualified to judge when a team does not have what it takes to win a division title, even if it is the weakest division in baseball. This team does not have the the fire the passion to be a champion. It has no character. It is a team full of players who have never won anything in their major leauge careers. They will tease you during the season when they will go on a winning streak, when it means nothing, but will fold like a cheap suit when the heat get's turned up. I can absolutely guarantee you they will struggle like heck against the Rangers this weekend, probably losing 2 of 3. As they fall out of the race quickly you will see the true colors of this team. The bickering and all that goes with it will rear it's ugly head. The best that will come of this is we have seen the last of Manuel along with a lot of the dead weight that this team has been carrying for far too long. Yes Sox fans it's time to re tool the ballclub yet again. Thank goodness football is here. As always it takes the away the sting of a pathetic Sox season quickly. We do have another month and a half to play. I prefer to play those last 14 games against KC and minny before calling it quits. We're 2 games back, jesus you make it sound as if we're back to 7.5 games back again. CWSOX45
KipWellsFan
I am extremely down on the Sox again too. I really don't have a huge reason to be, but I think we just sense that the Sox are going to go back to their pathetic ways.

danman31
This team is alive and kicking keep on cheering dammit.... We can't go 162 - 0 like many would like I totally agree with you except all you have to do is watch this series and see how inconsistent this team is and you'll realize that they won't make the playoffs barring a miracle. Sure, they could turn it around, but don't bet on it. With all this said, I'm going to watch them, root for them, and keep hope (whatever little hope I have left). It's really disgusting that they are 2 games out of first and have little hope. I have faith, not hope (if you know what I mean).
Flash Tizzle
Alright, i know its easy for everyone to feel down about this loss. Im pissed off too; I know they played a terrible game. No offense cost us...........Jon Garland did what is expected of him, giving up 4 runs is nothing odd. I rather of lost the first three game and won this one, so atleast we go into Texas with momentum. Im optimistic with the Sox, just because winning 2/3 against Texas can maybe give us a game on KC (Who faces Minn). I wont think of the alternative. Same two teams next week at the cell, it would be great going back home atleast 1 game behind KC. If the sox win the next two games, and KC loses both I guarantee everyone here would change their opinions quickly. Were still in the race, 40 games left. witesoxfan
We could get our asses swept by Texas this weekend for all I care. We would probably only be 3 games out of first by weekends end(I think the Twinkies will take 2 of 3 from the Royals). You want a prediction, you'll get one right here. The team that wins this division is the team that plays best head-to-head against the other two division leaders. If we go 10-4 against KC and Minny this year, we'll be playing in October. Same can be said about KC and Minny. I personally think this team will do it. They will get the job done. They have played KC and Minny well, and seem to play the Red Sox well....I can just hope that we get our big 3 atleast 5 starts against the Yanks when we play them(as they are a very strike out prone team and 2 of our 3 can get quite a few strikeouts)

I predicted 85 wins in march and i havent and wont change from that. This team is mentally weak. There isnt anything YOU can say or do, to change that. Chisoxfn
I will stick optimistic. This team was a dissapointment once again on the West Coast and once again when they play a team that is in a slump. I have to say their must be a lack of fire, etc. These guys seem to get lazy and then bam...they fall into a losing streak which is what happens. No matter how good a team is, when they don't play hard...they will lose against almost any major league baseball team more often then not (Cause everyone in this league is good). What I know is this team is going to have to win otherwise their will be some serious changes. One of which will definately be Manuel and I don't think any of us know who else would be gone. Maybe JR decides he saw enough out of this team to keep most of the pieces, maybe he doesn't. Who knows...thats in the future. What I do know is, is that this team has the pieces to do it and the only thing holding them back is them and the manager. In todays game don't know what you could blame the manager for, other then continuing to play Thomas who has been terrible once again. I love the guy (Him and Rockin Robin and McDowell were the first Sox I really started following) but it really his time to part ways. Thomas is a solid player, but not a star and having him in the 3 hole is acting like he's a star and paying him the 6 to 7.5 mill he's gonna get next year is ridiculous. Carlos Lee and to a lesser extent Paul Konerko should be up in the lineup. I am not saying KOnerko has been worth what the Sox paid him this year, but his attitude is awesome (Not saying Frank's isn't) but he didn't whine when on the bench like Frank does. So the guy didn't want to get set down, I wouldn't want to either. Keep Konerko, Lee, Rowand and add another bat that can play a position as well as DH and go with that to keep guys fresh. Use the DH the way it was meant to be used (By rotating in a set of 4 guys giving some guys a night off in the field every once in a while). Actually if the Sox were to spend 7 mill on Thomas, I think it would be downright nuts cause he's simply a DH. I'd rather take a risk in someone like Matsui (SS from Japan) or if possible Tejada cause they fill the vacancy at short and provide offense to the poitn the Sox can gamble at 2nd with Hummel/Harris/Graffy. Oh well enough about last year. I hope the Sox go out and kick ass the rest of the way and prove this Anaheim series was just a fluke part of the 2nd half. Chisoxfn
yes... its hard not to like paulie.... his work ethic and attitude are exemplary.... i just wish the guy had better legs Konerko is a classic 5 hole hitter while I really am liking Carlos in the 2 hole. In the future I'd move Magglio in the 3 hole with Tejada in the 4 hole (if the Sox picked him up). The flaw is, once again the Sox are right handed dominated. But if they resigned Everett you could stick Everett in the 5 hole with Konerko in the 6 which wouldn't be a problem. Then you have Everett DH a lot and play in left and center on ocassions for Lee/Rowand/Jeremy Reed/Borchard. And the Frank Thomas we see now, is a very solid 5 hole hitter. Anyone see a possibility of moving Konerko to the cleanup spot with Maggs in the 3 hole and Thomas hitting 5th or having Konerko hit 3rd for the time being or even Carlos hitting 3rd, Everett 2nd and then Maggs, Thomas, Konerko.
