Top unsigned picks...

Anyone know if we have a chance at these guys?

13 (411). Derek Thompson, LHP, John A. Logan College, IL

15 (471). Jordan Guerrero, LHP, Moorspark Highschool, CA

17 (531). Sammy Ayala, C, La Jolla Country Day HS, CA

Based on earlier webnews on Ayala, he's more likely to head to college.

I haven't heard anything on Guerrero. Thompson - there's a story that he's leaning either way, so say 50/50 on him.

RT @BAHighSchool: #WhiteSox signed Sammy Ayala for $258,800. Calif HS C went in 17th rd. Physical w/ plus arm, good pop. #mlbdraft

Pretty nice get for the White Sox here. I didn't think he was signing.

This is great news. Glad to see we're actually using our excess funds.

Excellent. Still cheaper than what the Cards offered, but more than what we offered initially.

So with the Ayala signing that leaves us about $40k out of our bonus pool, plus about $300k we could go over that pool without paying a penalty. Top picks unsigned are

13 (411). Derek Thompson, LHP, John A. Logan College, IL

15 (471). Jordan Guerrero, LHP, Moorspark Highschool, CA

That's early 5th round money for Ayala. Nice pick up. The Sox are almost certainly done since BA has them exactly at their pool limit.

Does anyone have information on the last 2 guys left, would they be minor league fillers or actually worth spending money on?

Wow, they actually did what some of us wanted them to do - take their remaining funds plus going close to the cap and throw it all at Ayala. And it worked.

This is fantastic. I remember reading a BA Piece about him much earlier this year. Glad the Sox are spending the money they are allocated.

What a surprise, guess the team is finally willing to spend at least a little more on the draft instead of going cheap for so long.

They should considering the push for draft changes has been the White Sox.

Key is they knew what they had to spend going in making final push much easier. Sox have benefited bigtime with the new rules.

Pretty pumped about Ayala. Very unexpected considering what his bonus demands had been reported as.

Wasn't it reported that he was informally offered $400k by the Cardinals who wanted to draft him much earlier, but he turned it down?
