There should be a way of taking this victory away from all posters who were calling for Morel's return. We have a guy here who will make most the plays at third and will provide some semblance of a bat if his career indicates

I am calling for anyone who can play 3B and will help this team win. Hudson actually had a mediocre to bad night tonight when you factor in his defense.

I don't remember this point. I remember EJ giving up 6 runs in games like that, not 3.

he was decent , he had some starts like that but hed throw a ton of pitches and hawk would get mad. unless im remembering wrong, i dont know.. :gosox1:

Unfortunately, starts like this by Jake just makes me think he's losing it. Perhaps fatigue is already catching on. He hasn't had good stuff for his last 4-5 starts.

Stuff=good

command=bad

Jake could have easily pitched a shutout...he was pretty unlucky in that second inning.

Hawk has no patience for guys that walk people...he always would get on Jose for that too...Contreras would give up two runs but because he walked 5 people, Hawk would be on his case the entire game.

That second inning was very frustrating to watch. Hudson should have had that grounder by McCoy. Bad hop or no bad hop, it never seemed like he got in front of the ball.

Yea well, I agree with Hawk on that point. Walks irk me unlike anything else in baseball.

Blue Jays hit in the 2nd inning like a computer in a video game that won't chase a single pitch out of the strike zone. Omar Vizquel played a great game for the Sox tonight.

I'd say it's a combination. Velocity seems lower, I haven't seen him hit 93-94 as often. Slider is still moving, but it's easy to lay off since it's rarely in the zone. Plus, he's hanging it more often.

April Peavy was a Cy Young candidate. May and June Peavy's been slightly above average.

One of his best for us.

I couldn't be happier they won, but I respectfully disagree.

So you're saying he won't make 40% of the plays? 30%?

The ball Bautista hit won't be hit at him every game, and when it is, you can't say he's going to miss all of em. He'll make some of the really difficult plays and some he won't. Like we've seen the last week from him. Some of both.

I remember PLENTY of starts where E-Jax would give up like 3 or 4 in he first and stablize and go 5-6 innings only allowing the first inning runs and Hawk would go on and on about how many pitches he always throws, and how he doesn't use his out-pitches correctly...

He's had about 7 miscues at 3rd in the last two weeks. For every tough play he makes, he botches a routine play. The biggest problem is that most of his miscues have come in big spots.

It can be frustrating, but it seems as though he'd rather give up more runs rather than have to sit through the walks.

Nah there's no such thing as a "clutch" fielder. Or a non-clutch one. Over the whole range of plays a 3B tends to face, I want someone who is passable, handles most of em, and whose bat isn't a noodle. We need a larger sample size but he can be that (because it isn't much to be that). Unless we want to decimate the farm system again-- I don't see us adding any other 3Bs. Could trade Floyd for it I suppose but I don't see it happening.
