His pitch count wasn't high, it's just that Ventura felt he was probably very fortunate to give up 10 hits and only a single run, and putting Jones in there when Greene was 2/2 against him wasn't a bad idea, it worked.

In the future, you can trust him more, perhaps...but you can't blame Robin for the quick hook in a game we really need.

Early on, the Sox have really protected him.

He's so damned streaky...he's Quentin all over again.

Except he's still incredibly young and developing. With his bat speed, I wouldn't be surprised if he develops into a dominant offensive player in the future (and a relatively consistent one). The biggest thing to ensuring that happens is pitch recognition/approach and I expect that to improve with experience.

Yeah, except he looks the same every year.

Look at his f***ing walk rate

I think he will make too many outs to be a dominant offensive player. I don't think he'll be a #3 hitter.

I might be mistaken, but I thought his walk rate had improved each year in the minors. So he's shown development from that perspective.

No, you're right...we heard ALL about the improved plate discipline in the minors.

It hasn't translated.

He's 2.5 months into being an every day big leaguer and has put up strong power numbers and hit for a pretty solid average. How in the heck are you guys basing your entire opinions on what he won't do based upon 2 full months of baseball.

Not when he can't hit a good fastball.

With his bat speed, I'd be stunned if he doesn't ultimately end up being fully capable of hitting fastballs. This isn't a guy with the Slayer's batspeed.

Because he displayed this exact same thing two years ago.
