caulfield12
So much for making Lynn work hard to knock him out b4 the 8th. Then, we've got the bottom of the order next inning, so our only chance is against their closer, assuming we can keep it a tight game. Only 10 pitches that inning. Not good enough by the heart of our order. Take that back, they'll PROBABLY PH for Lynn this inning, but maybe not if the first two hitters are retired. Villarreal is quickly becoming Zumaya II for the Tigers this season...Cubs have no chance against him. Edited June 14, 2012 by caulfield12

Sox are 5th in the majors in homers.

Major fail in the 7th by our best hitters in not seeing more than 10 pitches.
caulfield12
That's 5 K's for Peavy, and a pitch count only in the mid 80's. Great effort by Jake. No matter what you say about him in the future (about his overall tenure with the Sox), he was certainly gutty the first half of 2012 to keep us right in the middle of things. He didn't just give up and collect a paycheck like many other pitchers might have done in his situation.

caulfield12
Is Dunn available to PH? He's the only hitter on the team you'd remove Jake Peavy from the game for here in the top of the 8th.

caulfield12
QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 14, 2012 -> 10:07 AM) Why in the hell would anyone do that when they're going to be a free agent after the season is over? I mean the whole process of going through a revolutionary surgery that's never been done before...all the rehab that goes with it, how much money would Jake have made guaranteed in his career if he just stayed DL'ed through 2012? I'm sure it would have been enough to survive on. Gil Meche actually quit and left $11 million or so on the table from the Royals, but it's VERY rare.
