NHL has canceled the schedule for Oct. 11through Oct. 24. Not games - the schedule. Hence, could stil cram in 82 game season if CBA settled.

Yeah, that's safe for the players.

14,505 people at the Horizon last night for Wolves/IceHogs

I'd say it was 60/40 IceHogs fans too. Great atmosphere, but the Wolves won 1-0 in a shootout.

Wolves won 5-3 today in game two. Jeremy Morin with a pair of goals and Kruger with a goal as well for Rockford. Brandon Saad played pretty well on both ends of the ice but made a mistake in the 3rd allowing someone to sneak in front of him for a goal. Kruger played a nice game, very creative offensively. Leddy was very solid in both games this weekend. Shaw was very quiet.

Actual news on the labor front. The owners were originally looking to reduce the players share of revenue from 57% to 46%, which the players obviously balked it.

Today the owners proposed a 50-50 split, contingent on an 82-game season starting Nov. 2. Obviously there are other factors in the negotiations, but sounds like the owners are starting budge a little bit. Players union is on the clock.

They'd still have to agree to take salary cuts of 25% across the board.

From what I can gather on Twitter, it sounds like the NHL is willing to pay back any money lost on current contracts. The payments would just be deferred over time.

Either way, it's nice to see them actually negotiating for once

Apparently they might preserve the current contracts in initial years of the deal.

Apparently preserving them by taking a reduced share in later years...so it's players paying players. Not exactly what they want to hear.

Deal didn't exactly get NHLPA excited. Hopefully it's some sort of stepping stone, but we're not that much closer.

So are these players who are going overseas not going to play in 12-13 even if the season DOES start, or is there a clause in their contract that allows them to come back here if the NHLPA and owners reach an agreement?

Unless they have Forrest Gump as their agent, there will be an out clause. Some NBA players goofed that up last year.
