Kanerrrrrrrrrrrr

Tylerrrrrrrrrrrr Griffey.

Oh sorry I thought every thread was about the Illini tonight.

Sick performance tonight. It was nice to get the PP back up and going, even if some of it was 5 on 3.

Disappointed I lost the prop bet on another Mike Smith broken stick.

Committed Indians

‎(somewhat) Major Trade News: The Islanders have acquired G Tim Thomas from Boston for a conditional 2nd-rounder in either 2014 or 2015. Still no word if/when he'll dress/play.

They get upset about the Hossa/Luongo/Kovy deals, but then a team trades for a guy who isn't gonna play just to reach the salary floor. That's ridiculous. I think the "condition" is that Thomas has to play one game for the Isles, or the draft pick stays in NY.

Let's talk about the Chicago Blackhawks.

We are 12 games into the season, and the Blackhawks are 10-0-2, having played the best that the West has to offer while only having two home games on the schedule. The Blackhawks just got a shutout for Christ's sake.

This team is deep. It seems like everything is coming together *knocks on wood, again*. Crawford has mentally grown into at least a passable number one goaltender. We have four defensemen who are legitimate number ones (heck, I'd say Ikea and Oduya have been our best pairing pretty handily).

The Blackhawks have two of the best lines in hockey, and a fully-dedicated Kanerrrrrrrr.

This is the sickest Hawks team I have ever seen - better than those early to mid 90s behemoths, and even better than the 2010 team.

Please keep them healthy, God.

They still arent all that physical, which hurt them a bunch last year. They have holes, luckily the offense has covered up quite a bit of them.

The need to "be physical" was a myth last year.

False. Had Crawford been more physical with the puck in OT, they would have advanced to the semis.

But, I'd like to see another physical forward on this team somewhere in the mix. Having a couple physical/grind guys helps in the playoffs when goals are bit tougher to come by.

The need to insert players whose only skill was to be physical was a myth, but overall we got pushed around. Skill players with physicality is key to being a cup winner, I think we have a few up and coming but we could still use another 1 or 2. For example I think Saad bring physicality to the wing position but he's not a brawler in that sense. However strength on the puck in the corners is invaluable.

You said they still lack a need to be physical, yet they are 10-0-2 - just curious why those results tell you they need to throw more elbows.

The results dont, watching the games does. And like I said its not throwing elbows, its the physicality on the puck, the guys in the corner controlling the opponent. Think one more Buff-type of player. Thats to be a cup winner IMO. I love physical wings that upset the flow of d-pairings when the puck is dumped in. Thats one of the reasons I think the Toews/Saad/Hossa line has been so dominant. Saad is really good in the corners behind the net, Toews is a beast digging is out and with the puck and Hossa is just big enough to have great puck possession ability. They are a defensive nightmare and have been wearing down opposing D-men like crazy.
