TheBlackSox8
well this is nothing but great news. If he becomes the starter for Humber it's even better
sunofgold
QUOTE (onedude @ Jun 19, 2012 -> 06:55 AM) well this is nothing but great news. If he becomes the starter for Humber it's even better Time for DA to come back. C'mon back Dylan, Brenda has been asking about you.
chw42
So we trade one HR-prone pitcher for another. At least Axelrod tends to give up solo shots.
GoSox05
I'm willing to give anyone a chance over Stewart at this point.
flavum
Axelrod is still listed as the Charlotte starter tonight. Doesn't necessarily mean he's not sitting in a Chicago hotel right now, but they haven't officially done anything yet.
Andy the Clown
If true, good. I have no idea if Axelrod can pitch at the major league level, but his AAA numbers have earned him the chance to try.
caulfield12
QUOTE (Andy the Clown @ Jun 20, 2012 -> 02:19 AM) If true, good. I have no idea if Axelrod can pitch at the major league level, but his AAA numbers have earned him the chance to try. Terry Doyle, Deunte Heath, Veal and Bruney say hello as well. There's more than numbers in judging prospects vs. suspects.
Balta1701
QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jun 19, 2012 -> 02:30 PM) Terry Doyle, Deunte Heath, Veal and Bruney say hello as well. There's more than numbers in judging prospects vs. suspects. The usual rule of thumb, and the one the Sox scouts have repeated, is that in the end, the hitters will tell you. macsandz
IMO, he'll be the long man. Humber will stay as a starter. (not that I remotely agree with this)

(not that I remotely agree with this)I don't know where the line will be drawn, but they won't stay with Humber if he keeps being this bad. Andy the Clown
Terry Doyle, Deunte Heath, Veal and Bruney say hello as well. There's more than numbers in judging prospects vs. suspects. You're absolutely right. But, Stewart has already shown us that he can't pitch in the bigs. The jury is still out on DA.
CaliSoxFanViaSWside
It's about time . This move was highly predictable given the state of affairs on the staff.
Quin
My guess is Humber's next start is his last stand.
Jake
I pick Humber over Axelrod for now. If you're going to replace Humber with someone, do it with Castro (ie someone with talent) I will confess I probably would have said just about the same about Quintana, but at least Q was young. If Axelrod wants to do what Q did, which is earn a rotation spot when he gets a chance in the bullpen that's fine with me

elrockinMT
QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jun 19, 2012 -> 07:41 PM) I don't know where the line will be drawn, but they won't stay with Humber if he keeps being this bad. There needs to be a line drawn at some point, but I don't know when it will be either. Maybe after the All-Star break. I would have thought they would have done it by now, but that perfect game looms in the background. You always hope he can turn it around
