LittleHurt05
QUOTE (Sockin @ Jun 23, 2012 -> 11:27 PM) @Ken_Rosenthal Source: #RedSox talks with #WhiteSox over Youkilis more advanced than with other clubs, could be approaching final stages. Deal between #RedSox and #WhiteSox not a certainty. Youkilis' past physical issues will make exchange of medical records critical. Hopefully the Sox see the medical records and say NO! Our third basemen may suck, but I want nothing to do with 2012 Kevin Youkilis. If you give up more than a bag of balls for him, it would be a moronic trade. caulfield12
http://espn.go.com/blog/chicago/white-sox/...de-for-youkilis This Levine article says any pitching/prospects going to the Red Sox would likely be Class A pitchers. No names. Mitchell makes zero sense because of their glut of outfielders already. Other teams are looking to trade for some of their excess. Trading Gavin Floyd makes zero sense at his lowest possible value (well almost, one start isn't going to raise it SO much) and with Danks' return uncertain...as well as how well he would pitch upon return, Humber out, Quintana and Sale looking at IP limits in August/September, etc. Not to mention while Peavy looks great so far, he has to prove he can pitch one full/healthy season in a Sox uniform. justBLAZE
The White Sox’s pursuit of Red Sox infielder Kevin Youkilis is more advanced than any other club’s and could be approaching the final stages, according to a major-league source. Youkilis’ past physical issues will make an exchange of medical records critical. Youkilis, 33, spent time on the disabled list earlier this season with lower left back tightness. He also had back stiffness, a sports hernia and left hip bursitis at the end of last season. The Red Sox are willing to include about $5 million of the nearly $8 million remaining on Youkilis’ contract in the trade, sources said. The more the Sox pay, the better the player — or players — they will receive. The White Sox entered Saturday’s play with a .460 OPS at third base, by far the lowest in the majors. Brent Morel, their Opening Day third baseman, is out indefinitely with a back injury. Orlando Hudson, a converted second baseman, is batting .167 and at times has struggled defensively. The Indians, Dodgers and Pirates were among the other clubs that showed interest in Youkilis, who has been benched for rookie third baseman Will Middlebrooks the last three games. TIRED ACT The Red Sox used to be MLB's lovable idiots, but fans are no longer amused by their antics. However, sources said late Saturday that the Indians were a “longshot,” the Dodgers’ recent talks with the Red Sox had been minimal and the Pirates had pulled out of the discussions. Most rival scouts and executives believe that Youkilis could provide a short-term jolt if traded — he is unhappy with the Red Sox, and should be highly motivated to succeed. Those same baseball people, though, express concerns over Youkilis’ health, offensive decline and diminished mobility. Youkilis has batted just .231 with a .698 OPS since coming off the DL on May 22, with five doubles and two home runs in 78 at-bats. LINK. Steve9347
At this point, I'd be elated to acquire You given the performance we're getting at 3B, but I don't see how the Red Sox expect to get anything of value for him.
caulfield12
QUOTE (ScottyDo @ Jun 24, 2012 -> 09:06 PM) Wait, since when is Q on an innings limit? He's already in the mid 80's. They're going to have to be careful with him when he gets to the 140+ mark. The fact of the matter is with all the uncertainty around this team, they can't just risk injuring Quintana this year without repercussions for the future. Even though he's not a "top prospect," he's becoming a key part of our future nevertheless.
Chicago White Sox
QUOTE (greg775 @ Jun 24, 2012 -> 12:03 AM) You watch every game. Do you not agree Crain is finished? Either you're a troll or the dumbest human being I've ever encountered in my entire life. Crain has a 2.38 ERA, a 1.10 WHIP, and a 11.12 K/9. Which one of those stats screams out "finished" to you? If you really aren't a troll, then you're the worst kind of sports fan. The typical meatball fan who lets a recent event affect his perception of a player's entire body of work. Have you ever looked up statistics? Do you know how they even work? See, what's cool about stats is we can use them to overcome our own biases. You saw Crain lose a game for us and have convinced yourself he's finished. Unfortunately, you didn't look at his stats, or the stats of the other guys in our bullpen, or even other relievers througout the game. If you had, you would have realized how stupid your "Crain is finished" theory was and why wanting to just give him away was just your inner meatballness shining through. Having said all this, you're obviously a troll and a bad one at that. Life really must be boring in Lawrence if you spend this much time trolling on a White Sox message board. Funny, they weren't so smart to hold onto Reddick when they had no outfield depth coming into this season. That led them to a desperation pick-up of Marlon Byrd, and the likes of Sweeney, Ross and Darnell McDonald starting numerous games. David Ortiz wants out, so does Youkilis, Beckett won't be far behind...it's not like they have recently been the blueprint of a well-run organization. A lot of those bad contracts are finally coming home to roost, it's just that Theo's not around to be held accountable for the mess that he 75% created. Soxfest
Kevin Youkilis is in the Red Sox' lineup Sunday, playing third base and batting sixth. Youkilis is expected to be traded soon, but his presence in the lineup makes the possibility of a deal going down Sunday unlikely. Will Middlebrooks is also playing, as he's slotted into the DH spot. David Ortiz is getting a day off. Rotoworld

The state of the Redsox is a cluster, look at our team last year and the effect it had mentally to most of our players last year. Obviously Youks body and overall production is on a decline, it's what happens with age. But to be upset KW is attempting on making a move to improve our miserable 3B tandem is a little much. Youk will vastly improve our offense even if he produces like he has lately all the while gving us a far better defensive replacement at third. I still feel like this has dragged on too long for us to ultimately end up being the team that traded for him. But as Baron said we should find out shortly, since they will have to make a roster move to add Cook to their roster before his start this afternoon. A few hours and well know if Youk is changing Sox or leagues.
