fathom
QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jun 26, 2012 -> 03:11 AM) In 4 of the last 6 and 5 out of the last 8 games the Sox have scored 1 run or less. 3 of those games went extra innings. BBGW. Yeah, this is quite the stretch of not just a slumping offense, but an offense that is making it nearly impossible to win games. Something has to be done to break up Dunn/Konerko, as well as having Rios/AJ/Viciedo/Alexei batting in succession. This offense has got to pick it up soon, as you can't expect pitchers to give up 0 runs when facing Yankees and Rangers. soxmaniac!
Who didn't see this coming? The Sox just can't win in Minnesota. I expect the sox to get swept this series, maybe get lucky and win 1 game. I miss you Ozzie
hi8is
Of all the games this series - this is the one where a loss was affordable. Come back and win the next two... Take the series, nothing less.

RZZZA
Whats jeff manto's batting philosophy, does anyone know? Is he a proponent of being patient at the plate and taking walks? Do our guys listen to him?

RZZZA
Are you just joshing me? We just hired the guy we're not gonna fire him. And I'm not suggesting we do, I'm just asking what Manto is telling these guys. To be honest I'm not seeing a lot of patience up there. I see it sometimes but its not consistent. Do our guys listen to him? I knew this would be coming once the sox starting hitting badly The hitting coach doesnt have much effect on the team Its up to the players to hit. It wasn't Walkers fault that bums like Dunn and Rios could not hit the ball.

It wasn't Walkers fault that bums like Dunn and Rios could not hit the ball. But is this because they're not listening to what he's saying? I'm not blaming the hitting coach, maybe he's teaching them the right stuff but they just aren't listening. I don't know. My problem is not even with the lack of hitting, it's with the constant swinging at bad pitches, going down 0-2 all the time, and the one-pitch-one-outs. Dick Allen
The Sox are now 1 game behind their 2010 pace after 73 games. To get there 2 years ago, they were currently on an 11 game winning streak.
iamshack
Didn't have a good feeling about that one, given how hard Jake has worked the last few outings and knowing we really struggle with Liriano when he's going well...

Manto, Walker, Ozzie, Robin, etc., it all adds up to .500 folks. Well, for now, it still adds up to first place. Imagine you were a Cardinals' fan in 2006 or 2011 saying "we suck! we're not going to make the playoffs! if we do, we're probably going to lose anyway!" Would you prefer to be 15 games back and fighting for the #1 draft pick next June? Then the ONLY thing we would be talking about is dumping salary, KW's job status, attendance, USCF is a tomb/mausoleum/graveyard/possible setting for Death Race III with Jason Statham, etc.
