Before last year, I'd agree - but LeBron rose up and crossed any obstacles he had mentally last year when he flat out raped the planet. Mentally, he has nothing left to prove that he's beyond that issue.

I mean, using the logic of one great playoffs makes a lot people better than MJ.

I'm also taking into account his vastly superior physical skillset.

MJ's fundamental skills>LBJ's physical skillset

Kinda like how Hakeem the Dream fundamental skillset demolished Shaq's physical skillset in the Finals.

LeBron does have the physical skills to be better than Jordan, but you're right, at least up until now, mentally can't match him. Not to say he won't someday, but right now, no way. If LeBron ever gets near Jordan's competitve nature, it will be pretty close. LeBron is unstoppable. When he decides to take over games it's like a high school all american vs. 8th graders.

Even as a massive MJ fan, and someone who really doesn't like LeBron, the ONLY place that MJ is better, is his killer mentality. LeBron is bigger, stronger, faster, a better shooter, and a better defender.

I like LBJ, let me get that outta the way but it'll be interesting to see how LBJ adjusts his game when his big physical advantage goes away as he gets older, MJ was still the best player in the league when he was in his mid 30s because he honed his offensive skills to compensate his declining athleticism. Let's admit it, LBJ doesn't have the greatest footwork in the post, he's getting by on brute athleticism, can he upgrade some of what he lacks right now when he won't be able to out jump his opponents?

MJ was still the best after he came back from baseball, but athletically, and I think a lot of people miss this, was not nearly the same. Pre-baseball MJ did things humans shouldn't be able to do. He was on 60 minutes in the late 80's and the interviewer said to him, "You really can fly, can't you?" He said, "For a little while."

I'll give you that LeBron is bigger and stronger, but I don't buy for a minute that LeBron is faster, a better shooter and definitely not a better defender. Jordan's first step is as fast as anybody's that's ever played the game. LeBron does not nearly have the jumper that Jordan developed during his first retirement. Calling LeBron a better defender kinda makes me laugh. Jordan had multiple 200 steal / 100 block seasons. Lebron has not done either one of those things in any season, let alone in the same season.

I think we can all agree that Derrick Rose is better than both MJ and LeBron James.

I wish you'd attempt to contribute to the thread instead of never-ever getting over a fanbase falling in love with a guy like Rose. But, I guess it's hard to give a s*** when God keeps injuring your team's players right as that roster was starting to be fun.

Massive MJ fan? Weren't you the one who said Wade is better than Jordan at everything except defense and dunking or something along those lines? Maybe it wasn't you, but I remember a massive discussion starting because of a ridiculous comment like that.

There's also no way that he's faster, a better shooter (this one isn't even close. like seriously?!) and a better defender.

I said that players progress. One generation is better than the one before it.

Seaking of MJ - I love me some MJ.

LeBron may not get to 6 rings (who knows, who cares), but right now he's flat out a better baller than MJ ever was. Hell, I'm even leaning that way with Kevin Durant - he's a freak of nature. These guys are bigger, stronger, and better than MJ. MJ would still get his against them if we're talking prime, but if I were starting a franchise today, I'd take prime LBJ or Durant over prime MJ.

There, I said it. Flame on.

Umm, you do realize that MJ, at the age of 38, held his own against guys that were still considered decent defenders recently, right? Look at what Jason Kidd and Shawn Marion were able to do against the Heat two years ago. They were much younger and much more athletic when they played against an old Jordan and Jordan still did fine against them. . It's not like the guy played 40 years ago. The game has gotten worse since the 90s. There are no dominant centers (Dwight Howard, lolz). It's so bad that they even had to eliminate the Center position from the All Star ballot. The wings look better today because the game is catered toward their skills. There are specialists galore and a midrange game that's almost nonexistent now.

Carlos Boozer was able to succeed in this era. How good would someone like Charles Barkley be? How insane would David Robinson, Hakeem, young Shaq, and hell, even Mourning be in this era?

Explain the lack of quality big men, if every generation is bigger and faster, then why no 7 foot freaks of nature like Shaq. Wouldn't we have a plethora of big men?

Prime Dwight Howard can't touch KAJ, Shaq, the Dream, DRobinson etc.
