2012-2013 NBA thread

"I'm not sitting here crying about anything," James said. "I play the game at a high level, I play with a lot of aggression, I understand that some of the plays are on the borderline of a basketball play or not. But sometimes, you know, I don't know ... it's frustrating."

Lebron went into Adrian Beltre mode when a fan touched his head walking into the tunnel apparently trying to grab his headband. Lebron/fan http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jOPphPsNxEI Adrian Beltre

To be fair, if someone just suddenly grabbed my head, I would have the same reaction. I am sure many others would, too.

You should watch hockey. The Hawks streak was way more impressive considering the situation they did it in.

The streak they lost three times during? Yeah super impressive.

Oh for sure, I think the fans are way too close to the players on the way to the locker room and also court side. However , I am being irrationally celebratory after that win. ;)

Despite the low quality of the Beltre video, the music used and the consistent reaction by him built to a crescendo of comedy that has yet to be rivaled on this Thursday. Hilarious.

The Patriots going 16-0 is a better streak than the Heat or the Lakers record of wins. It is also better than the Blackhawks.

NBA officiating is abysmal.

It was wretched last night. And honestly I thought the worst call of the night went against the Heat. Battier got called for a foul on Boozer during a rebound in the final minute. Replay showed absolutely nothing happened, Battier barely had his hand on Boozer and there was no pushoff at all.

NBA officiating is actually damn good especially in comparison to the travesty that is college basketball officiating.

I'm not sure there has ever been one that went public but people are kidding themselves if they think that it hasn't happened in college basketball.

Ex Bulls center Tom Boerwinkle dead at 67. I remember him when I was a kid playing with SLoan, Van Lier, Chet Walker and Bob Love. The team was very good but the Lakers always beat them in the playoffs. RIP and condolences to his friends and family. Boerwinkle was a great passer from the high post.

I just saw this. Makes me very sad. In an era of Lew Alcindor, Nate Thurmond, Wes Unseld, Dave Cowens, to name a few, the Bulls had Tom Boerwinkle. He'd never be thought of when anyone thinks of the best centers of the 70's, but he was pretty damn good. Like you mentioned, a great passer and also pretty damn good defensively and a tenacious rebounder. He still holds the team record of 37 rebounds in a game. That may never be broken.

His five career triple-doubles ranks him third in Bulls history behind MJ and Pippen. He’s second in Bulls career rebounds (5,745), fifth in games played (635) and seventh in assists (2,007). Bob Love was quoted as saying he cried all day when he heard about Boerwinkle's death.

If Lebron wants to complain about the refs not giving him calls all season long, why does he wait until after a big, near-historic loss to make that complaint?

Because that's just the kind of chick he is.

It's also incredibly difficult.

For example, everyone watching at home would not have given bosh that continuation late in the game when he was fouled at the top of the key. But replay showed Bosh did in fact make it from free throw line to hoop in one freaking step without dribbling. These players are freaks of nature that are often moving in a way our brains can't process quickly.

Sorry but when I watch sports if the other team outright wins then you lost. I don't give a f*** whether it happened in regulation.

The reason they do it like this is because you wouldn't feel like you deserved to lose a basketball game if it was decided by a free throw contest.

I bet whatever he said at the end of that exchange was funny. Wish I could have heard.

Carlos Boozer, for all the whining there is about him/his contract- has been a joy to have on this team, and is under-appreciated by armchair GMs everywhere.

Carlos is a good and very valuable player. Our team will be undeniably worse whenever we decide to cut him loose. His main sin is not being a good defender (though he's made huge strides in that area, he clearly just lacks the instincts of a good defender) and being paid at market value. Market value players in the NBA aren't really cost efficient.

Agreed. And to the "tallest midget" thing, to what referent are you comparing. Older NBA officials? High school officiating?
