iamshack
QUOTE (Steve9347 @ May 23, 2013 -> 03:00 PM) "They pay me (max-contract money) for a reason. I didn’t say anything, and I wish I did. From now on, I need to speak up," Hibbert said after the game. LeBron James got two easy layups on back-to-back possessions as Pacers coach Frank Vogel kept Hibbert on the bench at the end of overtime. It's a decision Vogel's been ridiculed for ever since the final buzzer sounded and rightly so. Of course he is being ridiculed for it now...had they had Hibbert in and left someone wide open to hit a jump shot, he would have been ridiculed for that too. The sports world is littered with second guessers.

iamshack
QUOTE (Jenksy Cat @ May 23, 2013 -> 03:18 PM) I'd take my chances with wild jump shot over an uncontested layup 100/100 times. I think everyone would. Problem is, you couldn't really anticipate allowing an uncontested layup or having to get up a wild jump shot if you helped on LeBron... Again, second guessing. Problem is, you couldn't really anticipate allowing an uncontested layup or having to get up a wild jump shot if you helped on LeBron... Again, second guessing. I don't really consider that second guessing but rather common sense: -Make sure Lebron doesn't beat you, and if he does make sure it's on a jumpshot -Have a 7 footer near basket to protect the hoop just in case It's not like they had enough time to drive, pull Hibbert off and dump it to someone else for a easy shot. He wouldn't have needed to actually drive. One step towards the basket and Hibbert's man would have been open for an open shot.

Yeah, that's the ultimate question...possible wide open jumper for Bosh versus a contested LeBron shot...it didn't happen that way, but I think that was the question Vogel had to decide the answer to. southsider2k5
Watching the replay again, David West was the one defending the inbounder, who was Shane Battier. West needed to turn around and find LeBron coming off of the screen and run right to him with his hands up to try to deny the ball in to him. That was the biggest breakdown on that play. How are you defending the inbounder on that play, with 2.2 seconds left? Even if Battier can get the ball into LeBron and LeBron can get it back to Shane, you can live with him taking a last second shot. To me it is the baseball equivalent of pitching to Miguel Cabrera with a base open and Prince Fielder already out of the game.

If you say someone is a more athletic version than x, then you are saying they are equal to x but they are also more athletic. If I said "Adam Dunn is a more athletic version than Jim Thome," how do you interpret that? That, and you are saying that Paul George is better than one of the 50 greatest players of all time. You are going to take some heat for that regardless of anything else.

Just admit it was a stupid statement. For once.

Kyyle23
So a player(Glen Rice Jr) can be drafted out of the D League? That is interesting, I admittedly am not really familiar with player rights in reference to D League and NBA, I figured it was like MLB where someone already had his rights and they would just bring him up. That is interesting, I admittedly am not really familiar with player rights in reference to D League and NBA, I figured it was like MLB where someone already had his rights and they would just bring him up. I don't think teams can hold the rights to enough players to fill the D-League. The Bulls have sent players they had previously drafted to D-League teams, but only like 1-2 at a time. That barely fills a team if half the league does it.

witesoxfan
Teams will be affiliated with and share certain DLeague teams but they are also independent from anybody else. I had a friend who was drafted in the 4th(!) round by the Iowa Energy and he played with them professionally for a year. I'm sure they can trade and stuff too. The only players they can't do anything are those players that are affiliated. Hasheem Thabeet played in Bismarck for a spell when he was with the Grizzlies, but the Dakota Wizards couldn't do anything with him simply because he was under contract with the affiliated NBA team. I said he woudlnt be a top 5 pick in a better draft, but it turns out he won't even be a top 5 pick in really weak draft. Being proven right feels good sometimes.
