Jim Fainter
I think that it is entirely possible that he will go the rest of this month without getting a hit.

Jim Fainter
If his shoulder is bothering him, why can't he take at least one pitch that is in the dirt?
cwsox
If his shoulder is bothering him, why can't he take at least one pitch that is in the dirt? young with a superman complex and yet wildly undisciplined at the plate?

DonkeyKongerko
Sometimes for fun I put my finger on the TV where I think the pitch to Olivo will go. It always goes there and he always swings and misses it. Hehe I hope Jamie Burke sees some more playing time come September.

He's swung at 3 pitches just this week that were 3 feet outside and in the dirt..... including tonight.

I seem to remember him doing well in spring training.

But honestly CubKilla, I don't mind his K's as much, cause he still has productive at-bats when we need them...Olivo, OTOH, has he ever? man I hate to even see him come up to bat...or come up to not bat. That GS against the Cubs has clouded my memory But I know what you are saying and I've been saying it for awhile now..... what Olivo is bringing to the game offensively is a far cry from what he does behind the plate defensively. Rowand44
I think the opposing teams have learned just to throw 3 straight breaking balls to Miguel, and he's going to strike out.
Cerbaho-WG
I've wondered why he changed his swing really early in the season. Olivo use to stay really, really closed in 2002 and early 2003, but now he's doing something different. He sets up the same as last year, but when the pitch is just about to arrive, he opens his shoulders up a ton, and is then easily fooled by a breaking ball. He needs to revert to his old batting stance where he was closed on the front side the entire time.
Jim Fainter
You are right, Cerb. Add to that, his confidence is probably shot, too. Maybe you should be his hitting coach. He never gets any good wood on the ball anymore. He's about 35 hits away from Mendoza.
