hi8is
What'da ya think about the upcoming Yankees series? I could easily see a split. From there I think it could easily got either way 3-4. Which version of Floyd will show up? Is Quintana for real? Will the offense show up? New York also seems to have two unknowns starting this series. Let's give em some of our own evil. I'm optimistic for a 3-4 Sox series here... With reservations. Edited June 28, 2012 by hi8is

hi8is
QUOTE (Knackattack @ Jun 27, 2012 -> 06:47 PM) SCREW THE YANKEES, WE SWEEP. That sure would be nice. Hopefully Youk brings up the intensity a bit. First time in his carrer to play them outside of the rivalry, right? Give em hell Youk! flavum
Nova hasn't been very good at home this season. If the Sox can bring out the lumber tomorrow night, I think 3 out of 4 is possible.
Cali
Game One Loss. Games Two and Three Wins. Game Four Loss. That would be totally acceptable for me. In the Bronx with 2 rookies and an inconsistant starter going? Split would be fine.
Cerbaho-WG
QUOTE (Knackattack @ Jun 27, 2012 -> 08:47 PM) SCREW THE YANKEES, WE SWEEP. I remember when he swept the Yankees in the Bronx in 2000. Gotta love that one game where we scored 17 runs, 12 in the first two innings.

I remember Beirne. He had an incredible overhand curveball that he couldn't control. Vaguely remember Pena. That win probability chart is straight lulz. maggsmaggs
That 2000 team just had every frickin hitter with a plus-.800 OPS. Man that team was loaded offensively.

I remember I went golfing that day, got in the car to find out the Sox were up 12-0, and knew they were going to run off 7 straight against Cleveland and New York on the road. That was the defining momemt of the regular season.
justBLAZE
I'll be fine with a split, happy with a series win, and pissed with a series loss.
fathom
Give me a split and I'm happy. Axelrod might want to wear catching gear out to the mound so he doesn't get hurt. Hopefully the short porch in RF gets Viciedo and Beckham going again.

greg775
Two wins would be good. Last year's team probably would have won one. Had the series been after the all star break last year's team woulda definitely got swept. As far as perception goes If Sox get ... Zero or one win) Perception is Sox pretty much are pretenders. Vying for a title in a joke of a division. Split: More than a yawn. Sox would be holding their own and in the race. Three wins: Wow, quite a series. Sox are resembling the team that won nine in a row more than the lousy team of late (cept for Minnie series). Four wins: This just might be a division champ and with Youk maybe capable of making some postseason noise.

I wonder how it felt to get NINE runs put on ya ass in the first inning... This was when the Sox swept the Yanks and the the then powerful Indians, right? Wait... they swept the Indians in Cleveland THEN the Yanks in New Yawk. Good times. Edited June 28, 2012 by Chet Kincaid

Yankees website shows: Nova vs. Axelrod Warren vs. Quintana Kuroda vs. Peavy Hughs vs. Floyd There was a mention earlier today that Garcia will be taking CC's spot. Not sure how that's gonna play out.

hawkjt
They flashed Warrens numbers in the minors this year during the game today....99 hits and 27 walks in 89 innings. Sox need to welcome him rudely to the big leagues in his first MLB start. Kuroda has been good this year and Nova is 9-2,so no picnic, but it sure beats facing CC and Pettitte. soxmaniac!
Yankee stadium is a tough place to win at, I predict 2 wins at most. I hope Swisher the clown plays like he did when he was with the sox. I expect Rios to go back to his lousy self. I'm happy Freddy just pitched, he probably would have beaten us in a start. Good luck to Paulie and AJ. viva la 2005. The Ginger Kid
Having lost 5 straight series I hope this team is starting to gel again. I think this will be a good series to see how well we stack up against a team that's red hot. Win 3 of 4 and send a message.
