Frank_Thomas
Flowers is starting today in place of AJP, it seems odd to me to give someone a day off after having a 2 HR day. I know there has always been a fued between AJ and Jake, but has it gotten to the next level? I don't recall last year AJ not catching for Jake but it seems like this year anytime Jake starts AJ isn't behind the lineup. I may be wrong but this seems to be an issue this year. It could just be a regular day off for AJ but he doesn't get many off.
maggsmaggs
Probably just your typical rest day on a day game after a night game. I wouldn't worry. AJ and Peavy are just real high intensity guys and sometimes guys like that just butt heads. Edited June 30, 2012 by maggsmaggs

I do think they butt heads, but I really don't think there is the hatred that some assume. It is a day game after a night game and its 95 and humid in NYC. If Jake goes deep into the game and a pinch hitter or runner is needed for Flowers, it won't be any big deal AJ is catching Peavy.

soxfan49
Hot, humid day game following a hot, humid night game. There is nothing to read into here.
ILMOU
Let's not worry too much about the nebulus "chemistry". As I recall, the early 70's A's and the Big Red Machine had plenty of guys who couldn't stand each other. Whether that's the case here or not, we're in good company - chemistry is overrated. kapzk
I won't really make anything out of it either, but AJ did get a day off this Tuesday and against Kuroda who has held righties to a .220 avg this yr it doesn't bode well for us having Flowers behind the mound. G&T
QUOTE (kapzk @ Jun 30, 2012 -> 10:51 AM) I won't really make anything out of it either, but AJ did get a day off this Tuesday and against Kuroda who has held righties to a .220 avg this yr it doesn't bode well for us having Flowers behind the mound. Is he joining Henry Blanco behind the mound?
