fathom
QUOTE (Soxfest @ Jun 30, 2012 -> 06:31 PM) Wise could not play dead offensively with the Sox. He wasn't bad in 2008, and then pressed too much as leadoff hitter in 2009 and never recovered

Jake
QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 30, 2012 -> 12:24 PM) Invisible bats so far today. Lots of misses on that hanging slider. I don't think it's as bad as you think. The way it moves on screen is not necessarily indicative of how deceptive it is. I am guessing it's a pretty damn good pitch since we aren't seeing the spin on it all and many of the guys missing it are good breaking ball hitters. There is a point where too much break on a slider hurts the effectiveness since it differentiates itself from the fastball too much.

Well, Hawk and Stone are saying they have no idea how the hitters are missing it either.
