caulfield12
I would have thought Ozzie Smith in the early point of his career had some really low batting averages as an All-Star, maybe 240's or 250's? 230's?
lasttriptotulsa
QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jul 2, 2012 -> 11:37 AM) I would have thought Ozzie Smith in the early point of his career had some really low batting averages as an All-Star, maybe 240's or 250's? 230's? Good call. In '83 Ozzie Smith was hitting .205 with a .526 OPS at the break.

Cali
So basically, we all hope Paulie can do something in the game. Cause Sale's not gonng pitch and, let's face it, Dunn will probably strike out in his only AB.
qwerty
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jul 2, 2012 -> 10:32 AM) That is a great question. I wonder if anyone out there has figured that out. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jul 2, 2012 -> 10:38 AM) Jason Varitek got in with a .218 average. Haven't found lower yet. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jul 2, 2012 -> 10:43 AM) Luis Aparacio, hitting .208 at the break. QUOTE (lasttriptotulsa @ Jul 2, 2012 -> 11:53 AM) Good call. In '83 Ozzie Smith was hitting .205 with a .526 OPS at the break. You guys are not really even close. caulfield12
Varitek was elected to the team by his peers. The Red Sox catcher ended the first half of the season hitting .218, with 73 strikeouts compared with just 56 hits. In June, his batting average was an atrocious .122. That didn't quite beat out Dunn... (Russell) Martin also has the lowest batting average of any position player selected as an All-Star for the AL since Harmon Killebrew (.204) and Don Wert (.220) in 1968 and it's the lowest for any All-Star since Davey Lopes in 1981 (.169), according to Elias. www.espn.com Edited July 4, 2012 by caulfield12
